Pre-pregnancy I would use Always ultrathin pads if I used pads, but I’m not sure if those are heavy duty enough for postpartum. I already bought Depends for when my water breaks and the first couple of days because of some recommendations, but what sort of heavy duty pads should I get for after those first couple of days? And what kind of pads did you use to make padcicles if you made them and how much witch hazel per pad should I use?

Ive never been pregnant, but im a med student so when i was doing my ob gyn rotation there was a patient who had a few babies before come in and was telling me about how she preps her pads for after labour. I think she got the idea from youtube or pintrest or something of the sort. It was maxi pads, but she put like aloe vera (perhaps something else?) on them and then put them in the freezer. She swore by them immediately post partum. I wish i could remember the exact recipe, it sounded soothing anyways haha
good luck! Hope someone else can give you a better answer! Lol

@dv3849: wow, that sounds like it would feel really good….lol
@ScottishMrs: I guess I was lucky, I literally didn’t bleed. The hospital put me in these huge heavy duty pads (I’ve never worn pads so I found them to be incredibly uncomfortable) when I got home I bought a huge box of panty liners, expecting at least a little something. It was literally so minimal, I didn’t even need those.

I use reuseable mentral pads, and she makes post-partum pads. Her pads are awesome, so comfy and easy to clean/use, I know it sounds gross but it’s not! Anyway she is called Pampered Mama. She uses minky and fleece, how much more comfortable could you get? She makes them where you can slide the ice packet or whatever you do, just slide it in the inside and the minky is up against you. If your into a reusable option check her out!
