Alright so I had a question, and now I feel like I should have a poll for this but I don’t know the different types to use. What’s the best pregnancy test? I’ve heard that you should buy some cheapie ones from the dollar store / online and test with those first then if it shows positive use a better one like first response. Also another related question, do they ever come on sale? Haha. I looked at Some today but they are quite expensive. Certainly not something I would want to use if I wasn’t 100z% sure I was ready to test. ( late period Ect…) thanks ladies 🙂 any personal stories would be appreciated too. Xo hugs

I would have to say the first response early result test, or FRER as commonly abbreviated on here. It has gotten the best reviews by people that have done research on pregnancy tests..haha! That said, they are pretty expensive, so if at all possible the best time to use them is when your period is indeed late. They are the most sensitive test and detect the lowest levels of hCG compared to cheaper ones, so they have the highest probability of giving you a positive result the soonest. So the flip side is if you want to test early, it is more feasible to use cheaper pregnancy tests (and they work just fine, too!), but they are less likely to show a clear positive result before a FRER test would.
See this thread, great info!

Check out this thread, http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/pregnancy-tests-by-sensitivity#axzz2LwAi7U6l. The higher the number, the lower the sensitivity.
But you are right, many women will first test with a cheapie, and if they see a possible line, will test with a more expensive test.
