If you need iron, could just take a separate supplement for that? There are some good liquid ones on the market. I need more iron than my prenatal has.

As for the raging hormones…strap in! I found start of third trimester to be the worst (but I’ve still got six weeks to go, so could get worse!). But I have spent a lot of times in tears saying, “I know it’s irrational but I can’t stop!!”. Wish I could think of some specific examples for you!

I take NatureMade prenatals wih DHA. I like them a lot and they’re very affordable.

I haven’t really had hormonal anger at all, but I pretty much spent the first 6 weeks of being pregnant hysterically sobbing nonstop, if that helps!

booktea92:  I started taking these about 2 months ago and love them. I get them on Amazon.

LWe plan to start TTC in June so I figured I’d get started taking these now.

I was taking Women’s One a Day prenatals. I really liked them but ended up switching since Costco had a huge bottle of the Naturemade Prenatals. Those work great too.

My doctor told me the gummies without iron were fine as long as I wasn’t anemic, so that’s what I took until I couldn’t stand the taste of the gummies, but now I take Rainbow Light, which has iron and is really hard for me to swallow.

I have been a hormonal mess too (13 weeks) and sometimes I just tell Darling Husband that I’m pissed off at him for no reason and I can’t stop being pissed off. Usually he hugs me and it infuriates me so bad that I just can’t even help but start laughing because it’s all so stupid.

It also seems that since I got pregnant everyone thinks that I’m dumb or something… like everyone has to tell me how to do the most basic things like I haven’t been an adult living a ten hour drive from a blood relative for the last ten years.

I alternate between Vitafusion women’s gummy (not technically a prenatal but pretty close on most amounts, also w/o iron though) and Nature Made Prenatal with DHA (Also kind of a pill wimp, but the Nature Mades are softgels so even though they are pretty big they are soft enough to go down pretty easy.)

I took garden of life kind prenatals. They’re derived from who foods (not synthetic) so they’re easier for the body to absorb.

As for the mood swings…totally normal. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to punch my husband while i was pregnant. Tell him to be more observant and know his audience πŸ˜‰

I was taking the naturemade ones from costco, I they had everything I needed and more, plus fish oil in them. But dealing with hyperemesis gravidarum I wasn’t able to take them for over a week without vomiting and I felt so guilty. Darling Husband bought me some gummy ones from walmart and I’ve been able to stomach them long enough to not vomit immediately after taking them. I plan to switch back to the naturemade ones if my HG ever lets up.

I was taking NatureMade prenatals from RiteAid, but I wanted to switch to a prescription pill because they are much cheaper by prescription. I got a bunch of free samples and really like Vitafol Fe+ because it has added iron and come with an optional stool softener pill that you can take as needed. This, I liked the idea of. My insurance company won’t approve it without preauthorizatiom though, so the search continues.

As for mood swings…I might have envisioned karate chopping my Darling Husband in the throat a time or 100. I know I’m being irrational (sometimes) but I can’t help it! He had been pushing all of my buttons lately!

If you take iron, make sure you aren’t taking it with calcium, as calcium prevents your body from absorbing iron.

I ended up taking a prescription prenatal my MW recommended: it had an iron supplement in the morning and a calcium one for the evening before bed.

I don’t take prenatals bacause they make me sick. I asked both my OB and pharmacist who told me they are not necesseary if you eat well (not always easy in the first trimester) and only take an acid folic supplement. I was able to eat pretty normally troughout my pregnancy and so far all my blood work came out perfect so I guess they were right!

During the first 28-29 weeks of my pregnancy my mood was exactly the same as before, I didn’t feel iritated or more emotional at all. But now…. I get angry so easily and I cry all the time! I just woke up from a dream last night weeping πŸ™ Surely hormones have something to do with it but I also take in consideration the fack that I am getting bigger, slower, uncomfortable all the time, out of breath, sleep deprived…ence the irritability!

I couldn’t tolerate iron or swallowing pills with the nausea so I used gummies.  No anemia and better than vomiting from the iron after taste or being constipated.

I had a little bit of moodiness early that was easily managed with a deep breath and a decaf iced coffee treat.  It’s come back in the very late 3rd trimester between work stress and minor complications (breech baby and too late for him to turn on his own)

I have been taking vitafusion gummy prenatals. I asked the doctor about the iron, and they said they would be testing my iron levels throughout pregnancy and would go from there (haven’t had one yet). They said even though there isn’t additional iron added to the gummies, what is in them is usually sufficient. I was worried about it to, but I’ve been trying to eat more iron rich food, and just better in general (when I’m not to nauseated that is). I went through a few days of super anger, but Darling Husband was busy those days so he didn’t end up really experiencing it (lucky him). I’ve been more ready to burst into tears at a moments notice. Pretty sure I almost sat down and cried in the isle and cried because I couldn’t find fish crackers (yes, those kid goldfish crackers are of course my craving right now). Who puts them in the cookie isle anyway? I’m sure things will get better, but it’s a fun adjustment isn’t it? At least it’s worth it! Already can’t wait to meet our little one.
