What color undertones do you have in your skin? Mine are red, however, I burn then tan [unlike other red undertones that just burn and don’t tan].

That being said, since my undertones are red, when I use ANY type of sunless tan, even ones that have great reviews, I turn ORANGE. And I’m not talking snooki orange, I’m talking OOMPA LOOMPA ORANGE!

So just be careful =]

Hope you find something that works for you!

@PacificMrs:  This is exactly what I had to do. And led lighting made it more orange.

I was looking for an easier way without using a tanning bed, but it’s back to the tanning bed for me!

@PacificMrs:  I’ve been using Jergens Natural Glow for about 3 months now…I LOVE IT.  start off with the light to medium first.  It does take 3 times to see a difference but you really do look more tan.  It is a glow for sure but it looks totally natural.  I had an issue with streaking last week for the first time (I think I didn’t let it dry before I wet to bed and slept weird).  It was an easy fix though.  The next day when I showered I just scrubbed with my lufa.  MAGIC! Then it was gone.  I would highly recommend it.  I used the light to medium for about 2 months and recently wanted a little more color so moved to the medium to tan.  I love it!  You will see a difference in the first week for sure!

Let me know what you do!

@PacificMrs:  Just out of curiousity why not a spray tan? I used to only use creams but now I find that a spray tan is SO much easier! And you can still get a really subtle look with them. If you’re sure about creams I have used most of the cheaper versions with fine results.

The Jergens Natural glow used to smell so bad to me, but I’ve heard that they have changed that. and the L’oreal sublime bronze works well, but be careful which formla you get. I always choose the lotion because I figure it will spread easier and I wont end up missing any spots. I don’t like gels because they dry too quickly and I’m always worried I’ll end up wth stripes or white spots. Spray I’ve never tried because I can just imagine what my bathroom floor/walls would look like after!

Try one out for the first week of April and see if you like it. You still have time to experiement a bit. Also, if yo’re using a “real” self-tanner and not a gradual one make sure that you exfoliate like crazy the day/night before and do not put any creams/deodorant/makeup/perfume etc before either.

@jenilynevette:  This is the issue I have… fake tanners make me sooooo yellowy-orange and it looks super incorrect on my skin since I’m very pink.

This isn’t going to “stick,” it’s just a one-day bronzer, but the L’Oreal Sublime Bronze One-Day Tinted Gel has reddish tones and looks like the color I actually become when I tan. It washes off with soap (though you should still use gloves when you apply it), I haven’t experienced any of it rubbing off on clothing, it doesn’t have DHA so it doesn’t have that DHA smell, I can easily apply it without streaking (and if it does, well, it washes right off and you can try again), and you can layer it when you’re applying to get darker (you DO have to let each layer dry though). I use it for costumes sometime and if my legs are way too pale. And I am ghost white.

I can’t stand self-tanners because they always wear off so unevenly… but this just comes off in one go in the shower, lol.
