Somehow, I’ve fallen in love with the stone shape I used to like the very least. Like, I didn’t even like it a little bit, but everyone always says to try on looks outside of what you THINK you like, because you just never know. So I bought an inexpensive cz ring from Overstock, and I was shocked to find that I loved how the marquise shape looked on my finger. Website says it measures 9.6mm x 5mm. I contacted moissaniteco to see what kind of marquise they kept in stock, and while they didn’t mention the manufacturer of their supply, they said they don’t carry anything under a 10mm x 5mm, which I’m thinking may look a tad big on me.
I’d like to replicate a look as close as possible to this cz ring. I’m a long-fingered ring size 7. I’ve seen some loose Neo and Supernova marquise cuts on Etsy, and I’m seeing measurements of 9mm x 4.5mm (~.70 ct equiv), and then it jumps to 10mm x 5mm. I’ve compared on diamdb.com, but just can’t figure out which looks closer to this darned cz! I think I’d be disappointed in something markedly smaller, but would be overwhelmed by something much bigger.
Also, I can’t seem to determine, via Googling measures, which manufacturer of moissanite makes the nicest, “crispest” marquise cut. Supernova? Zaya? Neo? Bueller? If anyone has access to this knowledge, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
EDITED TO ADD: In case you’ve noticed that I’ve posted a few threads about different looks and are wondering why I’m all over the place, it’s because I’m still in the researching phase. Don’t know why I felt I needed to clarify, but I felt a little self conscious, so… there’s that!

Not a lot (any??) of marquise moissy. Jhollywooddesigns posted an awesome moval, which was like a chubby marquiser. I bet she may be able to get one as she sells multiple brands. Jyb jewels may also have one. I’d just check with them.

The difference between 9.6 and 10 mm is going to be infinitesimal. I wouldn’t let that bother you at all. 10×5 will look almost exactly like your 9.6×5.

Shrinkage is real! Definitely go with the 10 x 5mm. A 0.04mm addition in length will be unnoticeable. I have a 9.15 by 4.81mm marquise and wear a size 6 ring. Sorry but have no idea who does the best moissanite but would love to have that moval Jhollywooddesigns posted.
You have the perfect hand for a marquise and the shape really emphasizes how elegant your fingers are.

Go bigger… LOVE my marquise.

glitterysala : Oh, I’ve seen the famed moval! I’m more interested in the traditional marquise, but she must have access to both, so I’ll have to hit her up!
desertgypsy : I’m sure shrinkage is real, I absolutely believe it! You know, if I were better with numbers, I could’ve reasoned the dimension difference was miniscule… I’m embarrassed that I didn’t realize it myself! The loose stones just look so HUGE on a computer screen…
delphinia : You totally made my fingers blush!
marriedalready69 : I’m glad there’s a strong advocate/marquise lover present. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lotta marquise love these days.

spendabuck85 : You interepreted my post correctly. Typing on a phone screen in a park while my son plays sometimes leads to interstingly odd phrasing.
JHollywood is very sweet and has a great eye for cuts. You can create a custom ring, but there are a bunch of ritani and stuller settings that will work fine for you. You’ll just need to work with someone who can order them, they just need to order a ring with the right size to fit your stone.
Here’s a great solitiare by David Klass (who will work with moissy). This will allow a flush wedding band and protects the prongs from rubbing (by adding the donut and prongs are above that). His prices are also very good for custom work.
To keep the stone protected, the points are pretty fragile. You might consider a tail prong rather than a single prong (as in your cz ring).

spendabuck85 : I also have long fingers (size 6.5 ring finger) and felt that a marquise really complemented them! I ended up trying on a 1ct that felt too big for me, and mine is .70 cts, which I feel is perfect! It faces up large to me. I don’t know the measurements in milimeters, nor do I know about moissanite.
Here’s the 1 ct:

glitterysala : I’ve definitely been toying with the idea of working with David Klass. After perusing his Instagram account and looking through the David Klass thread here, it looks like he is super creative and accommodating with client requests. Asfor the prongs, I was kinda hoping double claws at the points would be secure enough? And I’d love to see a similar design to the ring below (made for marquise, of course), with a slightly interesting basket, and a trio of french cut stones down the sides (instead of the rounds shown). If not that, a simpler solitaire setting, like the first Stuller you linked, would be lovely, although the band is a touch too wide for my preferences, I think.
ladyvictoria : I absolutely prefer the diamond you chose over the 1ct! I think it PERFECTLY suits your hand. Stunning!
