I went to a wedding this weekend, and I burst into tears when the father of the groom said this:
I remember getting ready to walk Christen (bride’s sister) down the aisle last year, and I just lost it and started crying. She said to me, “Daddy, it’ll be fine! I’ll still be here, we still live near each other, it wil be ok, dad!” And I wiped my tears away and agreed with her that everything would be fine. But what I didn’t tell her that day was that I wasn’t crying because I was losing one of my daughters, I was crying because I had just seen Mollie (his wife) walk up the aisle, and seeing her and hoping that my girls (he has 4 daughters) would one day be able to experience the love that I have still today for my Mollie was all I could really hope for for my girls.
Oh my gosh I’m crying just writing it out. He was pausing, choking up the entire time telling the story.
Any great speech tidbits you’ve heard lately at weddings? I love a great wedding toast! Please share!
