Bees, what’s the most fun surprise you’ve ever seen at a wedding? Of all the weddings we go to, wondering what’s been super memorable for you as a guest! (Or, a surprise you’re planning for YOUR guests!!!)
Post in and/or take the poll!
- groom wrote a song and performed it at reception
- bride sang during their ceremony
- slideshow of bride and groom
- bride’s dad was very sick but walked her down the aisle in a walker
- i’ve actually never seen a flash mob or an unusal bridal dance!!!
honestly, most weddings i’ve gone to haven’t had a surprise! have yours?

Most memorable and favourite, I can’t remember the two previous weddings I went to before that much so I don’t really have much to compare it to but it was awesome:
Instead of the traditional first dance at my cousin’s wedding a few years ago, she and her husband (who are very into martial arts) and the entire bridal party performed a karate moves demonstration

I’ve never seen stuff like this at a wedding only on Youtube or WeTv.

I’m not sure if it totally qualifies, because I was a part in it, but the bride and groom set up a flash mob of a few friends to dance. They were included in it. The video still makes me laugh because people were confused a good 30 seconds into the dance and still trying to dance around us. Good memories.

The biggest “surprise” moment at my wedding was my hubs smashing a whole plate of cake in my face. I had whispered for him to not do it like a minute before, but he thought I said something else- so I was really not expecting it. It wasn’t just a forkfull, but the WHOLE slice, it went all in my hair, up my nose, in my ear. Took about 15 minutes in the bathroom to clean up with my bridesmaids. Yeah, that was a surprise. ALL OVER.

I was once a bridesmaid in a wedding in which the bride sang to the groom during the ceremony. It wasn’t a “surprise” so much as it was an excruciating torment we all just tried to breathe our way through.

@ProfessorGirl: I once attended a wedding where the groom sang to his new wife at the reception. It was a sweet idea, but also excrutiating and awkward.

I voted none, and then realized that FI’s cousin sang and played guitar (with some backup from his old band) to the bride. He did Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Hard to Concentrate,” and it was awesome.

I don’t think this SHOULD have been a surprise to me, but it was – after the ceremony, as the bride and groom were getting announced to come in for the reception, they were dressed in storm trooper masks/helmets and star wars music was playing as the walked/danced in. It was so fun!

I’ve never seen anything particularly exciting at any weddings. 🙁
But… this prompted Fiance and I to have a choreographed first dance. 🙂

My brother’s wedding:
He wrote his wife a song, that she’d never heard before. And it wasn’t cheesy, it was just perfect.
During the garter, he had some huge granny panties up his sleeve and pulled them out with a confused face. They had a young, lively crowd, and everyone loved it. She isn’t the type to be mortified, and it was really funny!

- Wedding: February 2013 - Colonial Country Club, Ft. Myers, FL
A lot of my friends are professional singers. A group of them wrote and performed an A Capella Broadway medley for a friend of ours that got married 2 years ago. It was amazing, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

The unhappy “surprise” of the tiny bit of champaigne we were alloted, slowly trickling onto the table from a hole in its cheap plastic flute.
I was desperate for alcohol at this otherwise dry wedding and was saddend to see it go. I couldn’t drink it because we were sitting there listening to interminable speeches, waiting for an opportunity to drink a toast.

Not fun, but awesome. The bride’s brother was deployed and couldn’t get back for the wedding. During the reception someone (I don’t remember who) set up a projector and computer and they were able to Skype with the brother. I started bawling.
