So we’re still a couple years from babies but Fiance just bought a new (used) truck that will pull our trailer better. His old truck (newer than the new used one) will be traded in for an SUV for me to drive. We’re going to get something used but only a few years old.
I want something medium sized. Nothing huge like a yukon and nothing tiny like a Tuscon.
I’d like something with 3rd row seating that can fold down into the floor for more room.
Future Sister-In-Law had a Tucson but it was too small to fit a stroller, groceries, etc… into the back so I want something bigger.
Suggestions? I’ve briefly thought of trailblazers, envoys, pathfinders…

My mom has a nissan murano, and i LOVE it. It’s so spacious on the inside. We drove it from portland to reno, nv and the backseat has alot of room in it, along with a big trunk space that can fit the stroller!
The people that i nanny for have a Pacifica and its pretty similiar.. It’s fun to drive, and they have a ton of baby stuff and toddler stuff in there. Also a dvd player and 5 cd disk changer.

I have a Honda CR-V and I love it. I don’t think i’ll ever buy another kind of car. Looking at comparing it to the Tucson, it looks slightly longer, but the rest of the specs are the same. My trunk would definitely fit a stroller, etc.
My mom used to have Honda Pilot which had 3rd row seating that I think folded down. It was a pretty big car, but the feel of the drive was amazing and if I ever wanted to go “bigger” it’s the car i would go for.

I’ve been thinking about the Mazda CX-7 or CX-9 (optional 3rd row). Both models pretty much look the same to me, but the CX-9 comes with a V6 engine on the base model and is a big bigger.

I really really want a toyota highlander!

We don’t have a kid yet, but I drive a 2005 Escape Hybrid, and I love it. I can’t imagine needing something bigger unless we have a 2nd kid and hopefully not even then. We can always get one of those storage things for the top if we need it, instead of sometimes driving around a huge SUV with just me.

I just bought a Hyundai Veracruz last week – we were thinking along the same lines. Its a bit big now but it will be great in the future for kids. Theres a 3rd row that I currently have folded down, so there is a ton of storage space. Also the doors open wider than some of the other cars I tested so it will be great for getting kids in and out of car seats and whatnot.
My initial intention was to get leather seats and a sunroof, but I decided to forgo those when I saw how nice the cloth seats were. HUGE bonus – the front seats are heated even in the cloth version.
Its incredibly spacious inside and even though I was originally against getting a Hyundai (I was looking at Mazdas or some of the “higher end” SUVs), I love it and would definitely recommend it.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It doesn’t have third row seating, but it has plenty of stroller/grocery room in the cargo area. My Darling Husband has a Ford Expedition with third row seating, but we HATE it. We just pulled the third row out and kept the seats in the garage. The Jeep works for us, not to big or small and great to travel in.

Thanks bees! I’m googling them all right now! I really like the Honda Pilot. I think a jeep or Ford Escape is a bit too small. I REALLY wanted an Escape until I saw it’s about the same size as a Tucson.
There is room for a stroller but it pretty much takes up the whole back/trunk.

the escape seats fold down easily, so if you have one kid, you could put the stroller that way, and the groceries behind the kids. You can fold down one seat or the other side + middle for more storage.

Ohh okay good to know. I plan on having 2 so I’d like something I can keep for quite a few years. I really dont want to get another vehicle for baby #2.

I love my 4Runner, but I have a older one… I don’t like the new ones at all!

We just got the 2008 or 2009 Nissan Pathfinder and it so much nicer then the older Pathfinders. We have the 3rd row seating also and it can be folded down. I have the Rav4 currently and I think that may be a bit too small for what you want. But I have driven/owned the Jeep Patriot and the Jeep Grand Cherokee, they both definitely have the trunk space for the stroller but it doesn’t have the 3rd row seating that you are wanting.

Thanks again. I’ve been researching all of these to check them all out. I think I’ve been driving Fiance crazy when we’re out driving somewhere. As soon as I see a SUV, I ask what it is hehe.
