jelliedeel:  December 2015. I think 18 months is perfect for an engagement. Plenty of time to plan, but you don’t feel like you are engaged forever.

Enough time to plan a wedding, really. I got engaged this past February, and we were married in October – so our engagement was only 8 months long. Once we started booking venues and set a date, it was 7 months after that.

But, some people need more time, some need less. It also may depend on the venues you want, and how fast they book up.

As long as you need.  There’s no standard.  For me, personally, I wanted 18 months…. What I got was 10 months (even though we started planning/booking things together a month and a half prior, discussing details of the wedding a month to two months before that).

It’s what you and your SO feel comfortable with!  2 years… 6 months… your call!

I wanted an 8 month engagement..

Everybody’s different! I reckon about a year. I don’t know why you’re even asking that.. just do whatever feels comfortable!

jelliedeel:  It’s different for everyone, but I wish our engagement was shorter – it will be 13 months.  We chose the date we did due to weather and other family scheduling issues, but if I could pick the length of our engagement, I think 8 months would have been about perfect.  I find myself obsessing too long over stupid details that I wouldn’t have the time to mull over with a shorter engagement.

I think at least a year before.

goblueca. I’ve been engaged since early this year & our wedding is planned for late 2016. So that’s 2.5+ years. I have spent far more time than is acceptable on pinterest.

Ours was 16 months didnt really pick it as it was a suprise we just knew we wanted early fall so it was either 4, 16 or 28 but, if i were in the position to be choosing i would’ve done somewhere inbetween but closer to the 16 like most are saying 18 would be good  but since you already know you plan on June 2017 I’m not sure that it matters since you will be planning anyway from now
