I haven’t set a date yet but will likely be july-september 2014. When is the best time of year to go to Thailand? I hear that the ideal time is around Jan-Feb. While we would love to go soon after the wedding, if the weather is worth waiting for, then its not a big deal to wait a few months. Or, is it still nice in the summer as well? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, my parents live in Thailand and January/February this year was awful weatherwise. It’s a tropical country, there’ll always be a chance of rain, sure techinically the rainy season is in the summer but if this year is anything to go by it’s 50-50. It’ll still be 80-90 and sunny most of the time even if it is the rainy season.

I am planning a vacation to Thailand and although I hear stories of less crowds and better prices during the summer/rainy season, I also hear people complaining of extreme heat and waters too rough to go in. I am sure it is hit or miss, and each year is different, but I have decided to postpone by Summer Thailand vacation to December. I am so bummed though..I dont want to wait almost a year for it (It isn’t a honeymoon trip, its just a vacation)

I lived in Thailand (Bangkok) for two months whilst in graduate school — mid-October to mid-December. The weather there was lovely and warm; I was told that my schoolmates and I had just missed the yearly monsoon season. I don’t recall experiencing much or any rain there during that time, but, of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not possible (or I don’t remember because I was so in love/fascinated with the city!). The temperatures in Bangkok were 80s-90s, which was wonderful for me because I’m always cold, but it might be uncomfortable for some people. Also, if you choose to go up north (Chiang Mai, for example) it gets considerably cooler up there, but still not what I would consider “cold.”
One of my schoolmates currently lives in Bangkok, and from what she told me of the gruelingly hot summer, I would definitely wait until late fall/winter. My fiance and I are actually planning to go to Thailand for our honeymoon this December-January, and I am SO excited
