@FutureMrsHosmer:  I lived there during uni, and it’s beautiful during the fall. My suggestions: Oxford (I’m biased LOL), London, Bath, Lake District, York, Brighton. Echoing PPs, the weather is pretty fickle (but it makes for gorgeous skies and insanely unreal landscapes).

Now is a good time!! We’re currently up in the Orkney islands on a mini stay-cation and I have to say its just beautiful up here (we may also be watching Braveheart which may make me ever so slightly biased!!

Where honestly depends what you’re looking for. You won’t get a beach holiday anywhere like the options in the US (Cornwall/Devon at a push) but if you’re looking for sightseeing, spectacular scenery and history then you have so much to choose from. People focus on the weather but if you are realistic before you come then you won’t be disappointed. A good all-weather jacket will be enough for most summer weather!

I would say though that unless you’re willing to risk it getting home when you need to, give the winter a miss. We’ve had a couple of shockers in recent years and the chaos its caused to the air travel just isn’t worth it.

Here’s what I know based on where I know:

SCOTLAND! Visit. If you like outdoorsy stuff then its great. If you like castles, history, myths, whisky then its the place for you. We visited a 5000+ year old tomb today and it was incredible, you don’t get that everywhere. Edinburgh is for sure the best city in Scotland to visit and maybe start your travels into the highlands from.

London, for me, is good for a few days. Do the open top bus tours (hop on/off is great for getting around the city over ground too) but personally after a couple of days I’m done with the busyness and number of people.

West country is lovely. Some lovely beaches, people, weather is generally better. Somerset is the home of cheddar cheese and scrumpy ciders. Bath is just beautiful and you can visit the Roman baths for the full tourist experience! Devon and Cornwall are known for their clotted cream teas and seafood. If you like surfing and water sports, this is the UK home.

Wales is my homeland. Similar Celtic history as Scotland, some wonderful stories, myths and histories-the people are as friendly as you will ever meet! South Wales is where I’m from, the Gower peninsular boasts one of the top 10 beaches in the world (according to trip advisor). I will recommend it as a place to visit forever as its just amazing.

Central heating is everywhere, I wouldn’t worry about that. Unless you’re planning on staying in a tent or some sort of bunk house (but I’ve stayed in plenty of bunkhouses and theyve all had heating!)

My advice is just be realistic about the weather (that way you’ll only be pleasantly surprised!) and don’t try and fit too much in. It’s your honeymoon!!! Relax, don’t over do it. It’ll be here waiting for you next time 🙂
