I wanted to get opinions about the best two way tape available? I need to keep the neckline of my dress as close to my skin to keep from any gapping. I brought a roll at Target(not sure which brand) and it seems to stick well to my skin but not to the fabric. Suggestions?

Honestly if you don’t mind having a hard time getting it off later, I know a friend of mine used double-sided carpet tape. If you don’t mind sort of ruining the inside of your dress (because it WILL stick) that’s the way to go. I’m considering it becuase I have used that tape before too and it either sticks to the fabric but not you or the opposite.

i am looking to purchase these as I have the same problem with every strapless dress i wear. It seems to have good reviews.

I’m pretty sure that’s the same stuff they sell at Target… either way I’ve used it before and it’s not too heavy-duty. I guess it depends how heavy the fabric is that you need to stick to you.

What you need is Topstick which is available at beauty supply stores like Sally’s. It’s actually toupee tape and it works really well. We use it at work.

@rosie024: Is this for your wedding dress? or for a regular dress? Wedding dresses are heavy so I dont know how well the tape will work… My alterations lady put velcro on the inside of my dress and on the front of my bra so that dress stuck to the bra and there were no gaps

@bells: “My alterations lady put velcro on the inside of my dress and on the front of my bra”
That’s such a good idea!!

I have the hollywood tape on a roll, like a regular dispenser. It’s thin and works for about 10 minutes. Skip it!

We use “It Stays” Body Adhesive. A friend of mine is a professional makeup artist for celebrities, models, and weddings and turned me on to this. It’s used by celebrities more than tape, fashion tape is passe’ and this adhesive is truly amazing. It is a surgical glue, similar to surgical tape. **By the way toupee tape does work, but can leave permanent marks on your dress. It also needs a special remover. I have sometimes ruined my clothes with the tape and also with the remover because it is oil-based.
The “It Stays” adhesive once applied, your garment stays with you until you take it off. It does not stain, leaves no permanent residue, and washes off completely with soap and water. I use this all the time at the beach and it keeps my top and bottom in place (no wedgies!). They call it booty glue, lol!
This adhesive is great for heavy wedding dresses, but it has so many other uses such as breast forms for mastectomy and those who use the silcone breast forms for fuller breasts. I get it cheap from my friend, but you can buy it several places:
