I would call and tell them to expect something in the mail soon and to call you so you know it has arrived. That way it is more personal than just a card but still has that little bit of surprise.

My Man of Honor lives on the opposite side of the country and I had mentioned to him he was going to be getting that title but I was going to send something to make it official. (I had told him before Fiance proposed that I would want him as my Man of Honor) So I got a personailized card asking him to be my Maid/Matron of Honor, a t shirt that says Man of Honor and a personal letter I wrote. He really loved it and was very excited to get a package.

hmmm… well then maybe you should call her first and talk to her about it, tell her you have been considering her and then after going through all that, if you think she understands fully send her a gift congratulating her on being a bridesmaid… or thanking her on saying yes?
