Hello bees! Just curious if anyone has advice on how to handle a personal injury claim in Maryland? I know WB might not be the most appropriate place for this question, but figured it was worth a shot!
Darling Husband and I were rear ended on the freeway back in July. The other insurance company accepted 100% responsibility (other driver told the police officer that he was looking at directions). DH is now fine, but I had a soft tissue (whiplash) injury to my neck that I am still recovering from. We got engaged in June, so it was horrible timing with the wedding and all… I cannot explain how hard it was to plan a wedding in 3 months while suffering from terrible neck pain, dealing with the insurance companies, and going to physical therapy 3x/wk! Fortunately my neck finally seems to be getting better and we had a beautiful wedding last month.
I would like to just settle this myself, without a lawyer, if at all possible. Is that advisable? Any advice on how I would go about trying to get a fair settlement? I did sign a release for the other insurance company to access my medical records – not sure it that was good/bad… I believe I had waived PIP coverage for myself but still had PIP coverage for my passenger (DH). So far my insurance company has been paying my bills and I have been paying the copay.
