My old dogs got fleas really badly one time after a trip to a park and we gave them a flea dip. It worked well.

we treat the cats with the spot treatment stuff from Petsmart.  They are indoor cats, so they usually don’t have a problem with fleas.  The dogs get a monthly combined heartworm/flea pill.  That has been a lifesaver.  It’s not exactly cheap though.

I’ve heard Dawn Dishsoap kills fleas.

When I got my kittens they had fleas. Gave them a flea bath (any flea shampoo will do). Then I put Advantage II on. Sometimes if the fleas are really bad you need to put another dose on in 2 weeks rather than 4. (My vet suggested that) Also if you have carpet get a spray (I used Enforcer Flea Spray for Carpets) If your cat has been in your bed just wash your sheets with hot water. Good Luck!!
