I think ideally keeping it in the ring box it came in is great, that is where mine stays when I’m not wearing it and I’ve been engaged for almost 2 years. I think anyplace where you will not forget it and it won’t scratch or rub up against other jewelery (fresh ring! lol) is ok. I also do not think a piece of fabric fiber will hurt your gemstone at all especially a diamond or sapphire since they are some of the hardest elements on earth. The only thing it could possibly do is loosen the prong, but even then that’s if it’s tugged on.

I set mine on the bathroom counter when I need to take them off for gardening, etc. Tongue Out I shouldn’t, but I do.

I keep mine in an old celluloid ring box.  That way, I always know where it’s at – either on my finger or in the box.  Also, it prevents it from getting jostled around with other jewelry which can scratch or damage it.

I put mine back in the box typically just to keep it safe 🙂

I keep mine in it’s box when I shower, or set it on the top of the drawers next to the sink when I wash my face.  Now you have me worried about loosening the prongs when fuzz and hair get stuck, which is constant.  They JUST adjusted it (the center stone was crooked, which is easy to notice with the rectangular emerald cut), but I think I might have to take it back again to get them to double check…  paranoid!

@emilygrace07:  I have at least two, I would swear my house came with one or I took one from my mom, but I can’t find one of them.  Then I bought another at a yardsale for the downstairs.

If it’s not on one of those, then it’s in my jewelry box.

I am the worst ring owner ever…I throw mine everywhere. Right now they are on the end table in the living room, this morning they were on the kitchen table, lastnight they were on the counter then beside the bed etc etc etc…wherever they land heheh

@Angel974:  Celluloid was an early plastic that is still around but rarely used nowadays.  It was a predecessor to Bakelite & then of course modern plastics.  Ring boxes used to be made of celluloid.  They came in a variety of colors & were usually either art deco or art nouveau in design.  I collect them & have about a half dozen of different styles & colors.  They’re pretty fragile & most were thrown away back in the day, so they’re not terribly common.
