I just say that i appreciated them taking the time to meet with me but we decided to go with a different / aesthetic/ price point/ style/ whatever the situation is. the only time i said more was a vendor who we didn’t go with because she took forever (like 3+ weeks!!) to email be back, more than once, with an excuse every time. in that case i told her i would feel more comfortable with a vendor with a more reliable email/ phone system. One vendor we couldn’t afford (cupcakes for the rehersal dinner) and i made sure to tell her i would 100% reccomend her and that if we didn’t already have plans for a big cake for the reception, she would be in! (side note, if you are in portland ever try cupcake jones, they rock the cupcake world!)

A short email is all that is really needed.  Be polite and thank her for her time and you can mention that you’ll be happy to recommend her to friends.  Vendors, I’m sure, don’t always get the client, so while it’s awkward for us, it might not be so much for them.

i had to actually tell one of my potential vendors that exact thing…TODAY! i just sent him an email thanking him for his time and letting him know that my Fiance and I met with a diff photographer last night and wound up booking. i also told him id still recommend him to my friends in the future and i appreciated his time.

short sweet and to the point is best. i sent an email bc i couldnt imagine calling and tellin him. this was a photographer that actually talked to me for over an HOUR the first time we spoke and i was supposed to meet with him TOMORROW! yiiiikes. he did write back already and thanked me for letting him know, and wished me well with the wedding!

good, good luck!!!

I don’t think they will care… I think that for the most part all my vendors were not counting on me til they had the money in hand, a lot of flaky brides out there! It’s a business regaurdless of whether or not you made a “connection”….it is hard though!
