weilpartyof2 :  My friends gave out key chains that double as bottle openers……it now holds all of my keys. 🙂 so it may not have been the coolest but I still have it and use it a year later!

Other friends did jelly bellies….also loved them but they did not make it past the reception.

The best one I got was a wine bottle stopper with a pretty fancy fillagree heart on it.

Im going to pay for parking and have shot glasses (I am marrying a Russian and we’re going to have lots of vodka toasts…….) I probably won’t have them personalized cuz I find that a bit tacky.

I have liked all of my wedding favours, if they are edible I don’t keep them, if it’s a favour I keep them

Generally I hate favors, but one of my friends gave out little Chinese takeout containers filled with different kinds of tea (including the kind that blossom in your cup) and chocolates, and I freaking LOVED it!  I thought of them every time I made myself a cup of tea.

For our wedding we did monogramed bottle openers. They had a keyring in them, so they could either be left in your kitchen or used on the go. Functional AND unique!

The best one I ever recieved was custom M&M’s….the worst was a truffle that was rancid inside! I KNOW I didn’t get a ‘dud’ because a lot of people bit into them at the reception and had a similar ‘experience’.

AT FI’s cousins wedding, they had a popcorn bar as you were leaving. There were like 10 huge tubs of different flavors with little bags and scoops. It was really good and perfect for an end of night treat. Everyone raved about it! This is the company they used: http://hamptonpopcorn.com/

Anything food related I would say. We had mini cotton candy poofs and we got so many compliments on them.

Ha, I am trying so hard to remember even ONE favor I got at a wedding and I can’t! I maybe can remember a glass? Of some kind? But it’s just ONE glass, I can’t really do anything with that so I think I got rid of it.

I also vote something edible.

Re: popcorn mentioned above – that popcorn company is THE BEST.

Haven’t received this, but I think some sort of seasoning is one of the few things I would actually take. I’ve been to weddings with candy bars, little jars or jam, chocolates, cookies, little trees, and most recently fish hooks (the worst in my opinion), and I never take any of them.

To be fair I’m not much of a dessert/sweets person 🙂

Edited to add: I too vote for the “no favors” route if that’s an option

The last wedding I attended was a destination wedding several states away.  The favors were little boxes of candy with personalized stickers.  Again, it was a destination wedding.  So when we had a bus run late and missed our connection and didn’t get to the hotel near our airport (the wedding was in Savannah but for various reasons we ended up flying to Atlanta and bussing to Savanah) until after the hotel restaurant had closed and then the one and only place that delivered food had a 3 hour delivery wait and we had no transportation to get anything else to eat, those boxes of candy saved our lives.  Seriously, we were going on 14 hours with no food because of Greyhound and didn’t want to wait another 3 to get a cheap pizza.  Box of chocolates?  Best thing ever.

So . . . if you’re doing a destination wedding, definitely consider something edible.  Because things happen when people travel!

zwimmerz :  me… doughnuts make me horribly sick, I cant even stomach the smell of them and have had to leave places before because of it

I personally dont find ‘eadibles’ a favor… its your job as host to feed the guests really and I certainlly dont want food to take with me – it crumbles or melts or spills or goes stale and distroys all the stuff in my bag every single time undecided

I like thing that can be kept, I dont mind customised but it should be sensable for a favor (getting a glass or plant home especially if travelling or drunk = hard work) things like the keyrings or bottle openers that have been mentioned are a great option in my opinion not to big and very functional smile

weilpartyof2 :  I’m doing dried lavender bouquets wrapped in tissue paper, with twine and personalized date of wedding tag.

Goes with our vintage summer wedding theme.
