- Wedding: October 2008
We were married in October, in the LA area, and I just wanted to share our success with a rather unusual menu. More than a fancy, drawn-out ceremony, we wanted to celebrate our marriage with those closest to us. We felt no need to conform to all the "traditions" – and just wanted a great party with an emphasis on great food and entertainment. What to serve on a budget – that would be delicious, easy and cost-effective??
We decided to serve Caesar Salad (with diced chicken on the side), pizza (delivered piping hot from a local pizza parlor) and homemade Apple Crisp (my mom’s recipe) with vanilla ice cream. Friends pitched in to make the salad and Apple Crisp on the afternoon of our wedding.
It was an absolute success. Everybody loved it. It was easy – without a lot of fuss. Hot and delicious (who doesn’t love pizza?). And inexpensive without any appearance of cheaping out!
I had posted some questions on this site last summer, inquiring if anyone had any experience with this kind of menu. From the limited (and somewhat discouraging) responses, I knew I was venturing into pretty uncharted territory! Just wanted you to know . . . it can work out beautifully.
So much better than rubber chicken!
