Definitely cardio–I’ve found that running and spinning, if your gym offers it, are great work outs. But honestly, losing weight is like 80% diet, so make sure you continue to keep track of what you’re eating and that you aren’t taking in more calories than you think you are!

I agree with the cardio.  You may also be gaining weight because of the muscle being built from the weights.  Just switch up the cardio each time you go to the gym and you should be able to see results eventually.  🙂 good luck!  You know I got your back.

Jogging

Running intervals + weight training

3-5 x a week

I’d suggest doing at least 20 minutes of hard cardio (interval running is great for this) with whatever weight training you’re doing. You won’t lose much weight with only 10 min. of cardio in your routine, just gain muscle.

We you definitely need the cardio.  You’re spending most of your time on adding muscle (which does help burn fat) but you need to be burning the fat as well.  Definitely up that.

I tend to workout 5-6x a week with 3 cardio and 3 strength or 3 cardio and 2 strength days.  I do P90x and Brazil Butt Lift.  Love both!

Good luck!

I would start doing some interval training. For me, that’s why more effective than just plain cardio. I’m a runner so I couldn’t completely give up running since it’s my stress relief, but I see the best results when I’ve done interval training (p90x, Jillian Michaels, various fitness bootcamps, etc)

Agree with PP’s. Diet is the biggest thing with losing weight. If you eat the same and exercise a lot you might lose a little. If you don’t exercise at all and control your calorie intake you can lose loads!

I’d definitely up the cardio. Weights and sit ups are for toning. It’s practically impossible to lose weight in one specific place but lifting or crunching it 🙂

As always I’ll recommend yoga and pilates. Kick boxing too if you’re coordinated and/or like to dance.

Also, mix up what you’re doing. Do treadmill one day, bike another, ellipitcal a third. I found that this worked best for me and it kept me from getting bored. Do like 20-30 mins of cardio and only maybe 10 min of weight/abs.

If there’s a boot camp in your area, I recommend those. The work outs are different, and I find I push myself much harder. I used to do weights at the gym by myself, but going to boot camp made me realize how lazy my work outs were. Highly recommended!

@Nola: We could be work out buddies together even though you’re probably more motivated than I am as well.  It’s so hard for me when I work as well because I get up so early.  I’ll be more active once the weather is nice.

I agree with PP, up the cardio! I also really like all of the Jillian Michaels workouts! I alternate between running and doing her workouts.
