That always makes things a lot tougher. I’ve already been trying to figure out who amongst my friends might be getting engaged this year, just to emotionally prepare myself. It sucks, but it does throw you for a loop, even if you are happy for the couple.

Ohh, don’t you hate how things always come up to remind you like that. Especially when you’re trying not to think about it! I had this happen today too, and as much as i’m happy for my friends I want my turn already! It sucks, hang in there, and hopefully your SO will want to join the club =).

omg that happened to me at Christmas. me and my guy have been together twice as long – and we didnt even think this couple were THAT serious!!

i was happy for her, obviously, but i did look at my guy and say “please let my ring be better than hers :(” to which he told me he’ll make her equally as jealous when my time comes.

love that guy.

@caffeiney:  I got similiar news a few months ago.  My SO’s friend (most laid back person I ever met) proposed to his girlfriend.  They’ve been together less than half the time we have.  Of course, I am happy for them but couldn’t help thinking “aaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh!”.  They are one of the first in my SO’s circle of friends to get engaged and nobody expected it!

@shirasagi:  I’m also trying to work out who else will get engaged this year -glad I’m not the only one doing that! Wink

Really good friends of ours got engaged about 3 weeks ago. I was ecstatic for them!! She had been through the ringer in 2011 and deserved a fabulous start to 2012. I was doing a great job not even thinking of engagement, and it brought up all my own thoughts all over again. SO turned to me and said “Don’t worry, were next” with a big smile. I couldn’t help but get all excited all over again with just those few words!!! Uggghhh!

@WaitingtoBee:  Same situation here ! It totally caught everyone off guard ! My SO was a little shocked that that couple was engaged. He thought they were just being cute until I told him the date they had set. He didnt know what to say ! haha He really thought they werent getting married for a few years! I’m pretty sure it got him thinking, which is definately a good thing ! hahah

@Future_Ms.Bostonceltics:  Great news for you!! 😀

@maudemaisha:  Haha, when I heard the news I was a little gobsmacked too!  I later found out that she had been really firm with him about what she wanted (so he did get a push).  Otherwise, it may not have happened for years.  Great that your SO got a little nudge 😉
