LOL – it’s so easy to offend people without even meaning to, but when you do they always become directly insulting to you and think that it is OK. Which is hilarious. And frustrating.

@Omgbunnies:  Bahahaha!!! Ridiculous right!

“you know, by not recycling, giving your kids the occasional kool aid & disliking coconut water you’re being offensive to my culture! You might a well spit out the vegemite you’re eating all over my wedding dress whilst insulting my choice of menu & reception venue!” **eyes rolling**

@AB Bride:  Ah I got it. You crazy kids and your health drinks.

On the upside I have had coconut water (from the coconut) on many an occasion. I like it Laughing

@Omgbunnies:  I’m loling so hard at your responses, people need to learn to deal…  Nobody is getting hurt by taste preferences… and I drank kool aid as a kid and guess what? I am alive and well! Can anyone really say they NEVER give their kids ANYTHING that isn’t perfectly healthy-straight-from-the-bosom-of-mother-Earth?

Even if they could, I’d feel bad for those kids. I’m not sure if eating like that means you actually live longer, or it just FEELS longer. (And this is coming from someone who is generally into the whole healthy eating thing… But everything in moderation.)

As for coconut water, I’m sorta meh about the packaged stuff, LOVE when it comes right out of a coconut though (and is cold.)

If you REALLY want a gross-out moment over a health beverage, try kombucha. Good lord.

@joya_aspera: Dude, I live in Korea, and everyone I know hates kimchi the first time they try it. I probably would never have learned to like it if it wasn’t foisted on me 5/7 days a week. I don’t think that’s insulting koreans… just a different taste. I wonder if Koreans would even like it if they weren’t constantly exposed to it practically from birth. (Also every Korean I know has at least one kind of kimchi they cannot stomach, whether it’s cucumber or radish or what have you.)

@gelaine22:  I have acquired the taste by force and now regularly eat it of my own volition… (though I’m still picky, I only like cucumber and mat kimchi and it can’t be too sauce heavy) but most other foreigners I know are either like GTFO or are the same as me, perplexed the first time, and then slowly coming around to it.

Hahahha i agree! Definitely not to my taste! I also tasted aloe vera juice recently after hearing about it’s many health benefits. Do yourself a favour, don’t. just don’t. it’s worse than coconut water. Ugh Ugh Ugh

@Omgbunnies:  Just saw your reply. Sorry. The original post was funny, honestly it was. It was a moody response which was aimed more at the junk food industry in general than an individual’s parenting skills.

I am an evangelical recycler and avoider of chemicals in food. But I’ve also been a miserable cow for the past few days. Looks like you got the sharp end. I’m not usually such a ****. Honest.

EDIT: If it makes my response a bit more understandable, you can’t buy Kool Aid in the UK because the colourings are banned in Europe, as are some of the additives. I think a few shops still do imports, but I’ve never seen it for sale. It’s the same with quite a lot of US products. So when I think Kool Aid, I think “banned product! Illegal imports!”. It’s a knee jerk reaction. I’m just sorry you ended up with the “jerk” part.

@Omgbunnies:  It shames me to say it, but I actually lost friends over recycling. I was in my early 20s and we were doing a communal living experiment. It was supposed to be all fairy dust and eco-feminism. It ended up with me doing all the communal work and everyone else smoking lots of pot and having lots of sex. The final straw (or, in fact, one of many final straws) came when one house member started criticising my recycling, because it made a mess. I thought “*** this, this is not what I signed up for, I’m out”.

… so maybe not really over recycling. But it was a contributing factor!

I have a few things to say about this thread

1. Omgbunnies I love you

2. I HATE COCO WATER. So disappointing when I first tried it in Dom Republic. I expected coconut flavour, did not get coconut flavour.

3. Some people make me laugh

4. how can anyone hate poutine ?!

I only drink the flavored ones. My new favorite is the Zico Tropical flavor, but I’ve only been able to find it at TJ’s, also I don’t like them when they’re not chilled.
