I only like fresh coconut water which is directly from the coconut.  My fiance loves coconut water in cartons and buys it by the dozen at Costco.  Personally I can’t stand the carton variety!

4 pages of posts about coconut water?!?! Seriously? But glad everyone’s feather are properly squared away. And sorry OP had an awful taste experience. But appreciate the wit and gifs! I, personally, don’t care for any cocnut prodcuts at all! I don’t even like pina coladas. So I’ll be staying away from coconut water.

Thanks for the entertainment in this post! I’m still laughing at how ridiculous it got.

I don’t mind coconut water, it depends on the brand. It’s amazing for hangovers though!

I love coconut water, but it really depends on the brand.

@MrsHoneyC:  of course! I remember reading a thread about things everybody else seems to love that you just didn’t get and like, 4 pages in someone said “I don’t think arrested development is funny” and I was like:

@Omgbunnies:  To quote Real Housewives of New York’s Alex McCord, “Don’t listen to the well-meaning morons”!  Some people just like to be argumentative or sanctimonious and it just takes the fun out of everything.  I mean we’re talking about COCONUT WATER here not Soilent Green for goodness sake!  Just try to chalk it up to some people waking up on the wrong side of the bed.  Loved the gifs!

man the 1st time i had coconut water was in hawaii and out of a fricking coconut at a farmers market. i was so EXCITED over this. so so so excited. i love coconut anything.

but man what a fricking letdown.

i ended up pouring it out of the coconut and into a cup of ice, making it slightly more palatable… but still such a letdown.

i tried a sample of vitacoco at whole foods… still gross.

then i tried a cold packaged drink… it was coconut milk/iced coffee. couldn’t help myself. it was good until i got the coconut water aftertaste. sigh.

i still maintain that coconut milk is the tits, though.

@Rachel631:  So you DON’T want to enter the flame war…so obviously criticizing someone’s parenting decisions is the way to not do that. You know damn well that’s judgy, no one should need to tell you so. Someone not liking the taste of coconut water is not a reason to bash or try to make them feel crappy for feeding their kids a popular drink that, while it may not be the most healthy thing, is something lots of people drink and give to their kids – and frankly, is none of your or anyone else’s business to comment on. It was a lighthearted post, and the mean, judgemental, holier than thou comments need to come to a stop.

@Wonderstruck:  I felt a bit guilty about that post afterwards, actually. Especially as I like OP from her other posts.

I just hate junk food. Not that that’s really much of an excuse.

I should also say that the emoticons in the original post are very funny. I did LOL a bit, even if I was a moody cow afterwards.

I love coconut water but the fresh one though. I spent some of my growing up years in the Philippines where coconuts are everywhere. You can buy them fresh from carts on the street. They’d hack it open and give you a straw to drink it fresh. It’s light, sweet, and refreshing. Though I tried fresh ones on a visit to Guam once but it didn’t taste the same. Maybe it’s a different variety? Idk.

I don’t like the commercial ones at all. Completely ruins the image of coconut water I had as a kid. I remember seeing an ad for bottled coconut water and felt so nostalgic so I was convinced to try it. What a let down. Tasted nothing like the ones I used to drink. I’ve even tried one that had bits of coconut meat. It was more like backwash. *gag*

@Omgbunnies:  Coconut water is good with mango or pineapple mixed in. However, it is high in sugar and other ingredients I normally try avoid in my drinks so I will be sticking to water.
