@Evie19: I would try the acetone first.  It’s very safe on natural fibers, but will dissolve oil based fibers like nylon.  If your veil dissolves, she didn’t use silk, she used nylon.  Like PP said, only soak the gluey part, not the whole thing.

I totally empathize about the sucky vendor.  I had a vendor who refused to offer a refund for a service she didn’t even PROVIDE.  Total &*#[email protected]

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Shes ruining it for the other great sellers who happen to be on there too. I think I know what you can do though. Etsy won’t be able to help you but Paypal (if you paid with them) will. You can file a dispute stating that the item you recieved is not as described. They’ll investigate the claim and refund your money for you.

Best of luck!

And by the way, I wouldn’t do anything else to the veil. Pure alcohol on a silk tulle doesn’t sound very good to me. Its far too delicate. Just leave it alone and see what Paypal can do for you. You’ll have to get one from somewhere else though.

Acetone isn’t an alcohol.

everyone who is so scared of how delicate silk is…

SILK IS NOT DELICATE.  SILK IS EXTREMELY STRONG…it only feels delicate because it’s so lightweight.

@Evie19:  everyone who has told you to soak it in acetone is spot-on.  it seems today would be the day you tried it…i hope it worked, and i’m soooooooo sorry you ran afoul of a crap-vendor on etsy.  best of luck.

I came back here because I wanted to know what happened with your veil, and I am so happy it’s working out for you! What a relief! I’m sure you will be able to find someone reputable to help with the rest of the crystals/pearls, and I want pics, for sure, once you have it all done. Yayyy ๐Ÿ™‚
