Just wanted to share a word-of-caution for some brides-to-be out there. I got a wedding gown from a sample sale last August. Thought it was a great deal as it was 50% off regular price. It’s a size 10 and I wear a street size 2. The folks at the bridal store said it could be tailored easily. She even brought the in-house seamstress to tell me that yes it can be done.
Well, I procrastinated and only started looking for seamstresses this past month. And yes, technically the bridal store people did not lie and altering a dress from a size 10 to 2 can be done. But for lots of $$$$! One seamstress quoted me for more than what I paid for the dress! Now I’m torn with trying to paying for the seamstress or just ditching the dress altogether and getting a cheaper one. And there’s only 3 months before the wedding. Sigh.
Anyway, I wished I’d done more research into sample sales and did not cave into the pressures of the bridal store people. What seemed like a great deal turned out not to be so good! Did anyone else run into a similar problem?
