@Persephone: Wow.  That is almost unbelievable.  I hope her Fiance is able to set her straight.  If he is not able to do so, he may want to use this as a reason to reevaluate his decision to become the fifth husband of a very selfish, immature woman.

I grew up in Maryland it is an honor to attend USNA. I love going to see my friends in Annapolis and seeing all of the cadets in their uniforms. I have no advice for how to solve this other than that there are rules and he has to follow them. I think her special man may need to proverbially “grow a pair” and stick up for his brother because there really is no way around it other than him not attending.

Can you clarify for me, I think I;ve missed a piece of this…her Fiance or his brother has to wear the whites?  If she is 39, and he’s in his first year at the acedmy…how old is he?

I don’t want to sound horrible, but honestly, I can see where your sister in law is coming from. I would be really upset if someone came to my wedding in white on my special day!! Even if it were my own brother, I would want him to at least TRY to request leave for the day, but sometimes leave isn’t always approved so yes I would eventually come to terms with that. BUT it’s not her “special day” anymore because it’s her 5th special day and she should really be more lenient…

@mexicanabeibi: I… what? Are you for real? We are not talking about somebody’s attention-seeking frenemy showing up to a wedding in a puffy white dress. This is a student at the United States Naval Academy in his dress uniform. She should be proud to have him at her wedding and in her family.

@starbuck: No harm for him trying to take leave, right? I must be a bridezilla… as I write this wearing my man’s dog tags and corporal of the Marines t-shirt LOL

I’m a 2010 USNA grad and while I COMPLETELY agree she’s acting bratty, SDB’s (Service Dress Blues, the dress uniform worn during the winter that looks like a dark suit with rank on the cuffs) is actually authorized for year-round wear. If she’s going to go to some extreme such as not allowing him to attend unless he’s wearing something other than white, he COULD wear his SDB’s.
