Breathe and relax. The store is only trying to help you. I highly suggest you don’t storm in there like a Bridezilla. No one likes to help a mean bride, be nice and calm but direct!, they will sort it out for you.

@mrstj2b:   Yup, deep breath, it will all be ok!  I agree with the PP, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar so whilst being firm in your position, don’t get nasty or hostile or I can guarantee, they won’t lift an extra finger to help you.   Why don’t you see if they can alter the length, free of charge, with their alterations department?  Does the dress have to be custom made to a specific length?   I understand you want it perfect as it’s what you ordered but wouldn’t alterations be able to do the same thing?

Also, how long are we talking?  Would you be able to add another layer of crinoline underneath to take some of the length away?

I understand you’re upset right now but please don’t be a bridezilla when you go in there – things happen and it’s not the end of the world.  There is still plenty of time to have this problem fixed.

ETA:  There’s a big difference between being assertive and being rude.  Deal with the manager directly and maintain your position, don’t even bother with the salesperson this time.   Good luck!

Agreed, don’t have anyone go in there with an attitude. All that’s going to do is send everyone home pissed off and make your consultants reluctant to try and help you. Yes, it’s frustrating, but it’s one of the easiest things to fix. Breathe.

Wow, Im sorry…. I would be through the roof also, especially with the place so far away.  There’s no reason to get it wrong again.  But hey, look on the bright side.. at least its still too long and they didnt cut it too short, then you’d really be screwed.  Hope they get it taken care of for you.

@mrstj2b:   Right, I can see why it would be difficult to alter then.  An inch though doens’t sound like an insurmountable challenge to overcome.  How tall are your shoes?  If you’re already wearing 4 inch heels, fair enough it needs to be shortened, but if not, could you go higher?   Also, what about the crinoline?  I can see how an inch is too long if you’re going to be stepping on the lace detail all night but it seems like there are possible solutions, other than alterations, that may just work.

Alternatively, why don’t you ask for the money for the custom fit to be refunded and then take it to an alterations place near you and use the refunded money to pay for it?   Just a suggestion.

Hope everything works out for you!
