@Jazmynju:  I had a friend who I felt was always in constant competition with me. Guess what I did? Stopped being friends with her.

@Jazmynju:  She thinks she’s getting a great “deal” because she bought an EGL diamond. There are no deals in diamonds — you always get what you pay for. EGL-graded diamonds are usually antiques, or they’ve been sent for EGL grading because they have some kind of flaw that GIA would grade more harshly.

She probably looked at, let’s say, a GIA-graded 1.5 carat round H SI1 for $27k, and got her EGL-graded 1.5 carat round “H SI1” for 14k. She thinks she’s magically saved 13k.

The problem being, EGL doesn’t adopt the same strict grading scale as GIA. What EGL considers a H SI1, GIA would probably call it more like a J I1. There have been reports of EGL color grading being FIVE grades different than GIA color grading. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but people serious about diamonds generally don’t recommend buying EGL-graded diamonds (unless they are antique cut).

I would say you’re the one whose copying…… a thousand other brides on earth, since halos are so popular right now. It’s really not a big deal at all.

super annoying.  I’d probably stop sharing anything with her that you don’t want her to steal…

@Jazmynju:  I apologize.  It’s hard for me to relate to things like this because honestly I don’t consider people that do things that upset me constantly (which it seems like this person does) friends that are worthy of being in my life. So, I don’t see why someone would keep this type of person in their life and upset them, rather than just realizing their life is best without these types of toxic people around andn cutting them out.

@cmbr:  +1

I’d probably not be friends with this chick if it bothers you so much. The rings don’t sound exactly the same anyway.

$20 says this other chick is sitting around living her life right now not giving a single solitary F! about you or your ring. You haven’t seen her in 10 years, she reconnected on Facebook. She SHOULD be a non-factor in your life.

i’ve been in a similar situation…my male best friend’s ex started mimicking me in nearly everything!to start with she started doing her hair in my exact style, mirroring my dress sense , took all her 4 facial piercings out and then had the two done that are the same as mine!!! it was annoying, but it all came from an unhealthy obsession with me! i learnt from my best friend that see never shut up about me and wanted to steal me away from my now Fi!!!   lol    yeah i am flattered, but i was also very creeped out!        is this “friend” usually a little obsessive about people or things.?..   if i was you then i would tell her how i feel, be prepared if you do bring it up then you may loose her friendship! :-/

@Jazmynju:  the diamond wouldn’t have gone through EGL if they could have sold it for more through GIA.

EGL has very loose standards compared to GIA.
