I love bezel settings 🙂 but apparently I’m in the minority!

@jhirsch:  bezel setting, 100%! It’s a gorgeous stone and would look beatiful bezel set.

@jhirsch: The bezel will probably me more secure (although I’ve never had problems with damage in a prong setting), but the prong setting will allow a lot more light to hit your diamond from all sides.  It’s a gorgeous diamond, congrats!!! 🙂

I voted bezel too. With a pear, you want to showcase the beautiful shape, and bezel would do that well. I think prongs wouldn’t show it off quite as well. I’m surprised so many people voted prongs!

@gromble:  I agree, and I’ve also never seen prongs for pear diamonds that I actually liked! Which is sad because I like pear diamonds! Bezel all the way!

I voted bezel too! Something about a bezel with a pear shaped stone just makes it look so interesting and elegant. I especially like that setting from whiteflash that’s posted.

Pictures of prong set vs pear. I agree with  @gromble about a bezel showing off the shape of a pear. I think prong set pears, even with a v-tip prong, look more old fashioned. A prong set pear in a dainty pave halo would accentuate  the stone more than a plain solitaire setting.

@jhirsch:  Yay for bezels! I have a dainty bezel (I think the band part of the ring is approx. 1.7mm?) and I’m in love with it. It’s modern, elegant, and unique because not a ton of people have bezels these days. I think that pear diamond would look GORGEOUS in a bezel setting. Pears seems to be not as common for a stone shape anyway, add the bezel and you have a beautifully unique ring!

@jhirsch:  Oh, I just noticed the pic that you put up where the setting shows the stone from underneath, letting the light in – mine is like that also. I think it makes it even more delicate/feminine looking.

I think a bezel setting make a pear diamond look very modern.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of pear diamonds, but when I saw one in a bezel setting it completely changed my stance on them! I think the bezel is beautiful!!

    So that’s my vote 🙂
