I voted prong, just because I think bezels are currently really hot and while I LOVE them, you may not always feel that way as time passes if this is going to be a forever e-ring.  This is from a (current) halo-wearer about to upgrade to a solitaire, so take it with a grain of salt though!  Laughing

I love pear shapes but I personally can’t stand the prongs. It is very distracting to me. I can’t speak to the light factor but just looking at pictures I’m not a fan of the prongs at all. Also they seem like they would snag a lot easier with the prongs. I am a huuuuuge fan of a solitaire pear in a super dainty bezel setting with a TINY band… like 1mm.

@jhirsch:  a bezel is “safer” for the diamond but think it also hides some of its sparkle. I voted 6 prong setting. Love pear diamonds!

@jhirsch:  I have a pear with the prong setting, but the bezel looks good with this shape as well.

I’m very biases as I have a pear stone in a bezel setting, so I voted Bezel because I think they are so pretty, and really enhance the shape of your stone! Plus, V-tip prongs have never appealed visually to me that much. =/

mine isn’t a diamond, but I have a pear cut pink sapphire with prongs. I LOVE the sparkle I get from it…althought without my halo I might be more prone to lean to bezel?

@MrsCassie:  what is the carat weight of your diamond? and do you find the setting takes away from the sparkly-ness? I’m looking at a .5 carat pear solitaire in a bezel setting and I have soooo many questions!

@jhirsch:  That’s so pretty! I think it would look beautiful in a super petite bezel 🙂

I’m a generally a fan of bezel settings – they’re not something everyone has.

I had a pear stone set in a partial bezel, and I love it.

Wow, what a lovely stone! I love pear shaped stones. 🙂 I have a pear shaped tanzanite that is set simply with four prongs and I love it. I’m just not a fan of those “v” shaped prongs that pears are often set into, tbh… they seem to draw attention away from the gem. For a clear/white stone like your diamond, I think that a delicate bezel is the way to go!

@MackieBleu:  It’s actually a 9x6mm Asha, which amounts to around 1.25ct diamond equivalent, and I don’t believe the bezel decreases the sparkliness of the stone any significant amount. Here’s a picture for you (size 4 finger). 🙂
