You can always make a joke out of it? Like, joke in a similar way in a different situation, fr example, the next time you make dinner, and he says it was great, tell him like “that’s worth a ring, right?” or something else light hearted in the same spirit. 🙂

Talk to him. Marriage is a major step in life, or it should be. Have a pleasant dinner and discuss the future. It sounds like he is serious and testing the waters, so to speak. It sounds like an exciting time for you both!

fairydust91 :  I say talk to him, he is obviously putting feelers out in some way, sounds like he is thinking about the next step and maybe he was hoping you would give him a clue i.e. “No, you propose to me!”.

why dont you propose to him, its 2016 and he asked you too… want to get married instead of worrying about awkward conversations where your essentually asking him to do all the work and buy you pretty things why dont you just do it?

fairydust91 :  I am so with you on all of the above points. Men don’t tend to joke about things like getting married but who knows what he really meant. I would ask him outright – “What you said last night about me proposing, were you joking or being serious?”

You couldn’t possibly have talked about marriage AGES ago when you’ve only been together a year.  It’s still fairly early on at this point. You can just gently remind him that “2 years is the agreed upon proposal time, stay on schedule babe!”
