@howsweetitis:  I don’t think you look big at all.  I think the dress looks great on you! If you love it that’s all that matters!

I know how you feel because a similar thing recently happened to me.  After having a really hard time making a decision on my dress, I finally chose the one, ordered it, and I loved it.  My best friend and Maid/Matron of Honor lives out of state and when I told her which one I ordered, she texted me a picture of me in my first wedding dress-I was married before-and said, “you must really like this style!”.  I was devistated.  I was so upset, I couldn’t eat, my feelings were so hurt.  I felt like the dresses were totally different. Then I felt like I made the wrong decision and almost started to hate my dress because of one comment.  I went back and tried it on again and was reminded why I chose that dress and why I loved it.

You have to go with what makes you feel beautiful and what you love and just have to try to get past the comments.  I’ve come to the realization that not everyone is going to love my dress, but I love it and that’s all that matters.

Good Luck!

I just saw where you siad the 1st pic is the sample dress – it was too big and you weren’t nipped in with clips — so it DOESNT look as good as a dress in your size that pulls where it should.  Your friend is blunt? she only knew that it didnt look as good as it could. You look fine in both (hello I’m plus sized) BUT the 2nd pic and therefore the REAL dress looks fabs. Play with sashes and other things but rock your dress and as soon as you can, jump into it to remember why you loved it.. Don’t doubt yourself!

@howsweetitis:  Of course the bigger sample size makes you look bigger and the right size is super flattering! At first I was like that’s weird it doesn’t look like a great fit in the first pic and that’s cause it wasn’t!! You look awesome, dress looks awesome and I love the sash idea. Ok I’m done lol

Im wearing an heirloom our that’s the dress I so would have at least tried on. I went in to David’s to get bridesmaids dresses and loved the dresses like that with the over lay. But I do agree with the pp that maybe a sash to break it up? But either way it looks great! The first pic is fuzzy but the second looks made for you!

Yay for another January bride!

I’m confused about what your friend was talking about because I think you look like a knock-out. My mom called me fat in the dress of my dreams…follow your heart- don’t let anyone knock you down!

I think it is lovely on you  and probably not the best picture the judge from.  I also think alterations, lighting and just being SO HAPPY to marry your Fiance will make a huge difference Smile

@howsweetitis:  I don’t think you look fat at all. However, I can see where you are coming from – if someone I loved and trusted told me that my dress was not the dress or that I didn’t look as good as I could, then I would believe her too. She has seen you in many different outfits, so she knows when you look your best.

I’m sure she was trying to be helpful but that would still hurt!

@howsweetitis:  I KINDA see what she means, sometimes with that type of line you can look “puffy” (I have no idea how to state this is “proper dress code” haha). The only thing I can think of is the fabric where the skirt starts sticks out a bit. But a corset would smooth that out.

BUT honestly, I think you look awesome in it. I would not think you were “fat” if I saw you at your wedding in that dress

@howsweetitis:  You look beautiful!!! Even in the first picture where you think you look fat, but totally don’t, lol.  I understand that you don’t like the angle–I hate that angle on myself, too.  Being photographed dead-on like that is typically not the most flattering angle for anyone (that’s why celebrities like to angle themselves toward the camera and stick one foot out front).

But you seriously look gorgeous, and I love love love your dress.

David’s Bridal has awful lighting that doesn’t lend itself to pretty pictures.

Your friend wasn’t there to see it on: she’s going off of pictures, in particular the one where you said it was unflattering (personally I think you are pretty and slender in all of them, but I don’t know you so I can’t base that off of anything).

After you get the dress fitted to you and into more natural light, you will feel much better about it.  I promise.
