I’m freaking out, bees. We are 8dp5dt with a surrogate, and we got a positive test today! After nearly two years on this journey, I am ecstatic and thrilled beyond belief, but I am also terrified. The HCG was 37…it seems to low to me. Does anyone have any experience with this, or any positive stories after having a low HCG result? Thanks!

congrats! I’m not 100%, but I think the most important thing is that the HCG keeps doubling every few days. My doc said the starting range can really vary by woman and by pregnancy so that’s why they do a comparative test every few days.

I’m not sure what that works out to with a transfer, but on 10 dpo, my HCG was 13. I’m over 35 weeks now 🙂 The main thing is that the HCG doubles, not what it starts at. Congrats mama!

It only matters if it’s doubling.
Mine was 26 the first time I had it tested.

You can still be perfectly fine at week five at 37 HGC. The ranges are so huge that you can have 3 women in three healthy pregnancies in the same week 100+ away from eachother in levels.

Congratulations!!! 8dp5dt is still early, so I wouldn’t be concerned with the number. If it gives you any sense of confidence, my (bitch) nurse wouldn’t let me come in yestesrday at 8dp5dt because “its still too early” and “she doesn’t encourage testing this early” – so keep that in mind. Thinking of you and hoping for good numbers next beta!

Thank you, ladies! I’m feeling more hopeful, but still very cautiously optimistic. This process has a way of making you afraid to get too excited too soon.
Ugh, our old clinic was like that! Had to wait 14 days! So frustrating. FX for you!
Super helpful link! Thanks!

Mine was 23 for a first reading. I’m currently 9 week pregnant.

My first beta was only 86 at 9dp5dt. (I’m 25 weeks today). 37 at 8dp5dt seems good! The important thing is that it doubles approximately every 48 hours. I agree that is very hard to be excited as opposed to cautiously freaking out after IF. In the beginning I kept telling myself- ‘today I am (or in your case we are) pregnant! I will enjoy it as long as it lasts.’. I’m not sure I really believed it for awhile though lol. Wishing you the best on your next beta! Congrats!
