Hey ladies! I took a long hiatus from the boards when it got to be too much… I’m officially past the year mark of TTC and it SUCKS.
Anyway, Darling Husband and I are on vacation right now and I got the most beautiful BFP (pictured below)!! The only other time I’ve tested positive was last summer, which turned out to be a CP. I got a faint positive at 10dpo and the picture is from 12dpo.
So two days after the first positive test, I had some bright red bleeding. It was brief and pretty light, but more than just a drop. Since then I’ve had a little bit of brown spotting when wiping.
Obviously I’m going to call my doctor tomorrow, but what else would you do in this situation? I’m sort of across the country at the moment. Also, does this sound like amother chemical to you? Lines got darker over the past few days and I’m praying and just really feeling like this is my baby.
Thanks for reading and for any input you may have.

i had spotting early in my pregnacy due to a small subchorionic hemorrhage. it ranged from light spotting to heavy-ish spotting; sometimes bright red, sometimes brown. but i was told that as long as the bleeding didn’t last for more than an hour at a time and as long as i wasn’t soaking pads, then i had nothing to worry about. sometimes they resolve on their own, sometimes they don’t.
unfortunately i ended up miscarrying at 8.5 weeks, but it was not related to the hemorrhage, it was one of those things that “just happens sometimes.”

I’m not a medical professional but have your tests gotten darker after the bright red blood? If yes, it may be something else than a chemical. It may be implantation bleeding but I don’t know whether that makes perfect sense because obviously the embryo had already implanted and it wasn’t old blod.
The only thing you can do now is to see if your tests get darker and, even better, go have your hcg levels tested. Otherwise, unless you have an underlying problem such as low progesterone, there’s nothing else that can be done.
Hopefully the embryo sticks!!

Are you cramping? When I had my CP, it was definitely cramping and spotting at the same time. Hoping yours is something different!

After my BFP, I was spotting as well… no cramping that I remember, but definitely spotting. I found out later my OB/GYN thought that was the beginning of the end, but the spotting stopped shortly after, and they never did determine what was going on. But that BFP is now a big strapping college kid. Wishing you the best!!

lilchicana: Sorry for your loss. It’s good to hear that the spotting isn’t necessarily a bad sign.
movingbee: The spotting was yesterday so I’m waiting to see how the tests change over the next few days. Hoping for some darker lines!
futuremrssquiggs: No cramping, I’m just super bloated right now!

I wouldn’t worry too much yet – some bleeding at the beginning of pregnancy is so, so common. I had occasional bleeding all through my first 9 weeks. It was scary every single time, but my baby was absolutely fine (she’s a big, strong 14lb two month old now!). If your tests are continuing to get darker and the bleeding is tapering rather than getting heavier (and it sounds like that’s the case), I think that sounds very promising.

For what is it is worth, I spotted almost everyday for the 1st 12 weeks for my pregnancy. Drove me crazy, but it was harmless! I have a perfectly happy and healthy 14 month old now!
