I’m having a very eventful week. On top of a bunch of issues with my mental heath (I’m suffering from severe depression, but I’m in a doctor’s care so I’m confident I’m on the right track), my body has been all over the place since my last period. I’m wondering if you guys can help me figure out what’s going on, and whether or not I could be pregnant.
Here’s some relevant info (TMI warning):
– My last period was on March 16 (right on schedule) and it was HEAVY. As in, holy crap that’s a lot of blood kind of heavy, but it was regular length and I had lots of cramping (normal for me)
– Darling Husband and I have not had sex since before my last period on March 16, and we use condoms every single time, no exceptions. No condom breaks to report.
– I am not on the pill, but I track my CM (cervical mucus – gross, I know). It’s been hard to keep track of this month because of how much stress I’m under. That’s why we abstained from sex – just to be extra safe.
So, based on all that, it would seem very unlikely that I’d be pregnant, especially since I had what seemed to be a period on time, and haven’t had sex since. Anyway, I’ve been feeling pretty out of whack all month, and I noticed that my CM has remained very wet well after my estimated ovulation about 5 days ago. I no longer have my other ovulation symptoms (pain in my side, etc) but I have a ton of breast tenderness. It’s a little early for me to be experiencing PMS. I usually only get PMS symptoms 2-3 days before AF is due.
So, this morning, I decided to take a pregnancy test just in case. I used one of those generic Up&Up tests from target (early response, blue dye). I used FMU, and I thought I saw a very faint line appear right away. It then faded and the test looked convincingly negative. Here’s a photo of what it looked like a few minutes after I took it. I thought I was still seeing that tiny line but I think I was just freaking myself out:
So, I put the test down in the bathroom and got distracted and never threw it away. About an hour later, I found this:
I know you’re supposed to disregard anything you see after the 10 minute window. The only reason I’m questioning this is because I thought I saw a small line immediately after I took the test.
I went out and bought an EPT Early Result digital test and took it later in the morning. My urine was still very concentrated. I got a BFN.
I’m going to use the other digital test from the 2-pack in a few days. In the meantime, do you guys think I should be concerned? I’ve heard that the blue dye tests can result in misleading false positives, especially after the 10 minute window, and my gut feeling is that’s all that this is.
Note: I really, really don’t want to get pregnant right now.
