BFP followed by bleeding – FRER still faint. Could it be ectopic?

beeliever88 :  To me personally it sounds like it could be bleeding from the implantation, especially because your tests are getting darker. I miscarried at 4w5d and it was heavy and red almost immediately. I tested the next day and the test got lighter pretty quick. By 2 days out it was basically negative. Try to relax. As long as you don’t have heavy period like bleeding and blood in the toilet you are probably fine. That last test is a very strong line.

beeliever88 :  I also have endometriosis. That was my first miscarriage, and I am currently 27 weeks pregnant. I had an episode of bleeding at 10 weeks that freaked me out.  I have never bled during a pregnancy before. Endo doesn’t play by the rules. I also was in excruciating pain at the beginning of this current pregnancy from the endo…to the point where I cried for 2 weeks not wanting to be pregnant because I knew if I got my period the pain would stop. It was rough.

How far along were you last time if you don’t mind me asking?

It’s just too early to know. I’m sorry. I know it stinks. There is a pretty clear progression there, so I would think positive. When I had CPs it was very heavy bleeding after maybe a day of spotting. No questions about what was happening when the bleeding kicked in. Early pregnancy is a head trip. Maybe the doctor will do blood tests to check how things are progressing? I hope the two days goes by quickly.

When I was around 5.5 weeks I woke up to dark red blood. It was quite a bit. Naturally I thought it was over. Nothing to do and my ob still only wanted to see me at 8 weeks. Waited it out and went in at 8 weeks to a baby in there. No one had any explanation for the bleeding except for implantation bleeding that worked it’s way out. Hang in there it’s just going to be a waiting game.

Your progression actually looks quite good to me. Odds are the spotting is just implantation bleeding (which can happen for several weeks after the actual implantation occurs). Spotting occurs in 25% of healthy pregnancies – it’s so common! I understand your anxiety especially given your history but I definitely would not lose hope yet – your tests look really good to me for being 13dpo.

Your symptoms don’t sound at all like those of an ectopic pregnancy. It’s really common to experience mild pain and light spotting at this stage. It’s too early to get symptoms from an ectopic, and they would be different anyway.

The pregnancy tests are no reliable indication of the regular progression of your pregnancy, so you might as well put them down and take slow breaths 🙂

beeliever88 :  I would get them to test your HCG levels with a blood test.  I just had a miscarriage and my tests got a bit darker but never as dark as I thought they should and my HCG levels never really rose either
