Just stay calm. Any extra stress can cause harm to the baby. Everything should be fine  since your blood work came back the way it did. With longer cycles it’s hard to tell sometimes. Just try to relax and wait for your next appointment.

@pinkb:  I didn’t ovulate until CD28 on the cycle when I got pregnant with this LO. My doctor also thought that I was MUCH farther along than I really was based on my O date and I also had cramps and spotting at the beginning 🙂 We could barely see anything at my 5 week U/S (He thought I should be a little over 7 weeks based on my LMP). He had me come back 2 weeks later and everything was right on track based on the O date that I told him and our little guy even had a heartbeat. Don’t give up! Trust your gut 🙂

I don’t like that your doctor wouldn’t listen to you about your longer cycles. I believe you need to be 5 weeks along or have HCG above 1,000 to see something on an u/s. And if you’re only 4w4d then it would be difficult to see anything. Did they give you a transvaginal u/s? Don’t give up hope! Cramping and spotting is common in early pregnancy and if it wasn’t heavy or bright red, I wouldn’t worry yet. I hope everything turns out fine for you!

You sound like you’re staying positive and not worryine yet so that’s good. Keep us updated!

this happened to me last week! I O’d on CD42, so super late! I went in at 5w1d and had the doctor tell me that the pregnancy was non-viable. i wasn’t super worried because I was sure of my O date and I asked if that looked correct for my O date instead of my LMP (which it was). i did the HCG tests immediately after and got the results that everything was doubling and looking fine. so i’m scheduled to go in next week for a dating U/S.

all that being said, TRUST yourself and your body! Darling Husband was worried and it was definitely unsettling to hear a doctor tell me that i was probably miscarrying, but it’s all worked out so far.

and i definitely feel you about changing the appt! i kinda wish i did as well to avoid the worry, but hopefully the results will be right on with your O date and you can make your next appt!

Definitely don’t stress about this!  I too have long cycles and knew I ovulated two weeks later than my LMP would have suggested.  Fortunately, my GP was ultra cool and when I said that I KNEW I was not 7 weeks as my LMP would have suggested, but only approaching 5 weeks instead (we hadn’t even pulled the goalie until O day so there was definitely no way I had gotten pregnant two weeks earlier!), he did not force the issue.  He gave me a referral to a clinic for a dating scan and when I called them and explained the situation, the girl said they could do one of two things:  they could do the scan now but probably wouldn’t see anything if I really was barely five weeks like I thought, or we could wait until I thought I was six weeks at which point they would be able to see a whole lot more.  I opted to wait the additional week and sure enough, when we went in, there was the baby and a heartbeat.

Moral of the story is that at 4 weeks (and even 5 weeks) you’re not going to see anything yet.  Trust your gut and follow your instincts.  To be honest, I don’t like the sound of your doctor and if you could try to get into a different OB practice now, that would probably be ideal!  Regardless, I would ask for a beta test and if the numbers are doubling every two days, then you are definitely not miscarrying.   Good luck – hope everything works out and you can find a new, more caring doctor!
