I’ve been in shock since last night. I came home from work and felt a bit off. While I thought that there was no chance of a BFP, I figured I’d test for the heck of it. My cycles are so long and unpredictable so I never know when or if AF is going to arrive. My previous cycle was over 6 months long, so I went to my OBGYN and then to RE and they both confirmed PCOS. The ultrasound reveled about 18 “pearls” on my right ovary and 20 on my left. They started me on provera to induce a period, which I got on June 4th. I also started on Metformin, met with a nutritionist, and have lost about 16 pounds. They wanted to see me lose about 20 lbs before they were going to start working on getting me to ovulate.
They seemed like it would be next to impossible for it to happen on its own…. which is why I took so many different tests. I used a wondfu OPK because I didn’t want to waste any of my pregnancy tests. When that came back positive, which I never got, I thought it was odd and maybe I was ovulating. I had one more pregnancy test and figured, “why not?” I think my heart might have stopped when it said pregnant. I stared out it for awhile and made up an excuse to my husband to go to CVS. I bought a few different ones and then I had this…..

While at CVS I was thinking about how to tell my husband if it was really true. I picked up a card, wrote a little note, and put one of the positive tests in it. I’m so happy I recorded because I love watching his expression over and over. He got wide eyed and kept asking if it was real. He jumped up and hugged me. It was so sweet.

I’m so excited, but nervous at the same time. All this week I’ve had an aversion to coffee. It smelled like spoiled milk to me and I thought I was going crazy. My cat has also been weirdly attached to me for a little over a week. He has to be next to me all the time and if I’m laying down, it was like he was obsessed with lying on my stomach. I even joked to my husband that maybe the cat know something we don’t know a few days ago.
I’m waiting for a call back from the dr., but I just had share the news. While I don’t post much, I’m here every day and this board has given me so much advice. Thank you all!

That is very exciting! Congratulations! I too have PCOS- but I think a very mild case of it (if that is possible.) I got my positive pregnancy test almost 2 weeks ago! And 2 of my dogs are completely obsessed with me. If I leave the room, they leave the room. If I go to bed, they go with me. I’m sure your cat knows something is different! 🙂

RCH1286: First of all congratulations!
Second of all, Can you clarify something for me?
So you got your Provera induced period in June. Then you started on Metformin? Did your doc put you on Metformin in the hopes of regulating your cycles or was it to treat other symptoms?
I ask only because I am in a very similar position and have just been prescribed metformin.

Trueimagev2014: I got my Provera induced period on 6/4 and started Metformin on 6/6 to treat the insulin resistance part of PCOS. With the insulin resistance being addressed we hoped that it would regulate my cycles. It made me feel terrible for the first two weeks, but then it started to be more and more tolerable. I wasn’t taking anything else beside a prenatal vitamin and vitamin d. (my levels were low)
And thank you everyone else! It still doesn’t seem real. I did some blood work today and I’m anxiously awaiting those results.

RCH1286: Oh I see. Thanks for this. I guess I’m just seeking stories and experiences from others because I’m not sure why my doc has gone with Metformin as the first line. My bloodwork showed that my insulin/glucose is completely normal.
Nonetheless, CONGRATULATIONS again! This is wonderful news!
