I don’t have many pictures to share but I went to the Bhldn in DC last week and purchased a dress for my courthouse wedding.

I was assigned a stylist who had already gathered the dresses I selected.  I highly sugggest you write down 4-5 dresses you want to try on.  They don’t have all the accessories in the store but the stylist happily brought some out for me to try on.

I was shocked at the sizing. I am a 4-6 and expected in wedding dresses to be around an 8-10 but Bhldn’s dresses ran true to size (both midi and full length).  They didn’t carry very many smaller sizes which was a little annoying as I needed a 2 in the dress I eventually ordered.

I puchased my whole wedding related outfits from BHLDN. We got married at a courthouse and had our wedding 1.5 months after that. I wore Tinsley Gown for the courthouse (unfortunately my dress was butchered by the tailor and it was not as long as I wanted it to be), Mara Jumpsuit for the dinner after the ceremony, Elise Gown with stardust sky veil for our wedding.

BHLDN has great sales. If I remember it right last year they added new styles at the end of September. If the dress that you chose is ivory they will definetely have a veil that will match with the color of your gown. Most items are true to size but they can be bigger around the bust.

I’m wearing the Sterling dress (in ivory) for my small beach wedding next month. I love it, and for only $250! I also got my shoes there (Badgley Mischka Maldiva sandals). I would’ve bought my veil there but it wasn’t a priority for me, so I bought one on Etsy for much less instead.

In the process of choosing my dress, I tried on two others first. With BHLDN, I’ve learned it’s really important to look at the dress sizing guide FOR EACH DRESS because they can vary a ton. If there’s any reviews, read those too.

I bought the Jolie gown and did not have to alter the dress at all! It was on sale too!

I bought the Mina gown and I adore it.  I didn’t think much of it on the website, but when I ordered it and tried it on, I fell in love.  It is so, so flattering.  The good thing about BHLDN is being able to order the dresses and try them on at home and return the dresses you don’t want.  Their customer service was great to me and even offered discounts beyond the price listed on the website.  I just asked if they had any “special offers”!!!

I have some pics I can share since you asked!

This is the Leigh gown

Cassia gown

Penelope

I can’t remember this ones name but it was an awesome dress just not for me

I liked going to the store but I  agree with others its awesome to have them shipped to your house, it’s $15 per dress shipping and they send you the return label. The appointments are only an hour which I thought was a little rushed

I got my dress from BHLDN! I got the monarch and I love it! Unfortunately mine does need to be altered (about $500). They order based on your largest measurement and my hips are about a size larger than my bust so it definitely needs to be fixed.  It won’t let me post a pic but I’ll try again!!

I was very reluctant to go and try on dresses, but I had an amazing experience at BHLDN- I booked an appointment kind of last minute (about 4 days out), and they were able to get me an appointment no problem. I did give them the name of 4-5 dresses I had seen on the website and wanted to try, and then tried on several others the day of. The salesperson who I worked with was very nice and helpful, and my mom and sister had a good time as well.

Even though we hadn’t made an appointment for her (none of us had thought about it, to be honest), my sister was able to try on maid of honor dresses, and she found a dress she really liked. We even had the salesperson call us the next day to let us know about a just-in new dress she thought was similiar to what my sister was looking for.

I decided on the Capri top and the Delphi skirt, and ordered through the website. The sizing for the top was true to size, though I did end up exchanging my skirt for the next size up (I was in between sizes). The exchange process was extremely easy- as another Bee mentioned, they include a return shippng label.

I also ended up getting my veil, shoes and earrings from BHLDN as well. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone I know. Good luck, and I hope you find a beautiful dress!

bcrowe :  I shopped online from them since the closest store was 5+ hours away and it was a great experience. They let me return and exchange without any issues. Customer service was great as well. This is the two piece I ended up getting! Top- Havana Bottom-ahsan (discountined..?)

I’m no longer engaged, however I bought my dress from BHLD and still love it! I was having a hard time finding a short dress I liked and i found one through them I loved! I like that the dresses are mostly affordable as well as unique. I wasn’t really into wedding planning so I ordered a few dresses online tried them on at home then shipped the ones I didn’t end up buying back

milkandcookies :  have you altered your gown yet? I have purchased the same gown and have the exact same problem with the sizing. However I’m worried that after altering the gown, the look will be completely different since the lace is so unique. I can’t decide if i should go a size smaller or just get it altered. Thanks!

violet90 :  I tried the Mina too, it was SO beautiful and really a top contestant for me!

I visited BHLDN in NY (the midtown one) for an appointment in October. I thought the appointment was a bit rushed and the consultant was too pushy, without coming with her own initatives. A bit weird, I loved the Mina gown though.

However, while scheduling my appointment I noticed that they’d have a sample sale the day after at their upper east store. I had no plans that weekend so why not try my chances. Once there (it was chaaaaaos of course) I tried on the Imogene gown. And it was PERFECT for me. And for a sample sale price of 300 dollars.. Yes please. It needs a dry clean and is a bit too big but nothing that can’t be altered quite easily.

Overall I think their dresses are very well made for the price point and I love their styles!

I ordered several to try and return from their website and had no issues. I think I tried a total of 6. The dress I ended up keeping had a broken zipper but they gave a fair discount. Very nice customer service. Make sure you take a photo of your tracking number for returns! They also periodically do free shipping, which helps! Below is the dress I kept (Elisha gown) without shoes on.
