I’m in the same boat as you, sorta.  I’m a 32Dirty Delete with 35 inch hips and im 5’1.  I was trying on mostly fit ad flares and mermaids.  But I eventually chose a sheath.

I’m a 34Dirty Delete with small hips and normal waist (typically wear a size 6 bottom).  My dress is a fit and flare.  I think this type of dress accentuates my curves and even makes curves where there otherwise aren’t any (or at least it appears there are curves).

Have you tried different dress types on yet?

@musemom8:That’s me. I’m 5’0 and now 108 pounds.

I went with a trumpet and felt gorgeous. 🙂

Look at the illusion of hips… do you see it there on the left side? I have NO hips, and I really wanted to seem like I did. Loved how I felt in it.

@milesbella:I agree, the trumpet to mermaid style (which I thought I would hate) can really maximize hips.

Not my dress, but one my friends liked (I ended up not choosing it because I thought it kept my hips too small, but they disagreed):

OP: You apparently have the EXACT same measurements as me. I always thought I was alone! I got a natural waist ballgown and it makes my body look amazing (I don’t think I’ve ever said that about any other article of clothing!) It’s not a HUGE poufy skirt, but sort of a modified A-line (between a-line and ballgown). It has a defined waist which makes my legs look longer and an internal corset, so my girls are locked and loaded in there. I definitely don’t look stumpy in it. I recommend just trying on every style and seeing what you’re most comfortable in.

@musemom8:which? the first is an Anne Barge (I’m selling it), it’s from a collection about 1-2 springs ago. The second is Melissa Sweet from priscilla of boston. I don’t know the style number for either one.

I too am short, 5’3.5 and I have 33 inch hips and a 26 inch waist. My boobs are 34DD  I have the same issues as you do about dresses and like Milesbella, I too found myself in a fit and flare, strapless. One suggestion I have for the ‘maybe stay away from’ side is halter style neckline. I find they made me look like one big boob-head

@Oneeleven: DEFINITELY stay away from halters! I also have linebacker shoulders to match my giant boobs…it’s not pretty.

@Oneeleven:LOL> no joke! I thought that a halter would be flattering for some reason, and every one I tried on… well, I like your phrase… I looked like a “boob-head.”
