Well, I NEVER discuss budget..but my venue is well known…and it is known to be pricey.

 

I actually had the teacher lady tell me to check other places out first…my thinking was she was telling me to find a cheaper place

melissa809:  No matter what type of wedding you have there are always people who think you should spend more or spend less, invite more people or less people, have a bigger party or no party at all…. in the end its all personal preference and don’t let them get to you.

Have the wedding you want (and can afford) and to be honest its no one else’s business….

I had a lot of people tell me “just elope” and save your money but then they were the first ones out on the dance floor and taking home goodie bags full of candy and favors at our wedding and they are the ones that are still gushing over how it was the most amazing weekend they have ever had almost 2 yrs later.

melissa809:  One of my bridesmaids ADAMANTLY insisted on asking my budget after we went wedding dress shopping with another Bridesmaid or Best Man and Future Mother-In-Law. I tried dancing around it, generalizing, but she was insistent on a number. So, I lowballed and told her $40k and she was like “OMG! Are you taking out loans? Credit cards? Too much money” etc. I told her no, we’re paying cash for everything, our families are helping and we’re very lucky, but she had this look. And then she did the same thing (with just me) later asking me about the 2nd reception in Madrid. I get it, she’s doing a master’s right now and not in the best place financially, so I know the amount of money we’re spending seems frivilous. But that experience has taught me NOT to talk about the budget with anyone that’s not directly involved with the budget (i.e. our fam).

melissa809:  My FH and I subscribe to the noneya philosophy.  In otherwords our budget is “none of your” business.   LOL!  People are curious about how we afford just about everything we do.  We are an older couple,  have money, and have invested well.  That’s all.<br />

this is one of my favorite threads to read! We haven’t decided on a budget, because I think my parents will be contributing most of the money and FI’s mom also offered to help, but I’m hoping it’s less than 20k. I love coming here to see what people who have the money to spend decide on!! I wish I was a big budget bride haha

We look to be coming in at about $90k in the midwest for 275 guests – I can’t believe how quickly things have added up!

 

Reception food/drink: $35k

Ceremony location: $2k

Flowers: 13k

Rehearsal Dinner: $5k

Wedding Planner: $3.5k

Photographer: $9k

Photobooth: $1k

Videographer: $3.5k

DJ: $1k

Lighting: $4k

Cake: $1.5k

Decor Rentals: $7k

Hair/Makeup: $2k (bridesmaids, moms, and me)

Dress: $2.5k

Shoes: $1.5k

Paper: $1.5k

 

Budget includes other things like gifts, postage, jewelry, license, etc, but didn’t post things under $1k.

I cringe when I look at the costs.  I would spend more if I were wealthy but the next year is all about sacrifices to make this a beautiful, memorable event for my family in particular.

Venue Rental: 3150

Food and Alcohol for 150: 20000

Dress and Veil: 4800

Photography (7 hours): 4250

Flowers: 3500

Shoes: 278

Headpiece: borrowed

Planner: gift from friend who owns a legit business

5 Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses: 250- found on sale for 50 a piece! So I’m doing that and necklaces, hair and probably robes… Is that okay for gifts or do I need to do something non-wedding related

Bridesmaid or Best Man Jewelry: 100- multi strand pearl necklaces on sale at JCrew for 20 a piece

Rings: 10,500

Hair and Makeup: 600

DJ: 1,000

2nd Line Band: 750

Cocktail hour music: 500

Transportation: 1200

Hotels: 1500 (family, bridal suite, groom, wedding night)

Church: 1200

Bow Ties: 600

Rehearsal: ?

Bridal Tea: 650

Dresses for events: 150 for rehearsal so far; need tea, shower, engagement and departure dress… Might reuse the rehearsal one for another event

Cake: 1200

Invitations/Postage/Calligraphy: 750

100k+ for us.  Here’s the breakdown for 300 guests:

– Reception food and drink: $40,500

– Flowers and decor: $17,000

– Dance floor decal: $3,500

– Chiavari chairs: $1,800

– Band with DJ: $9,600

– Photography and videography: $10,237

– Transportation: $1,600 plus driver gratuity

– Cake: $2,000

– Reception entertainment (living snowglobe): $1,600

– Dom Perignon for toasting (1 bottle per table): $7,350

– Invitations and day of stationary: $2,000

– Hair and makeup for myself, bridesmaids and moms: $1,650

– Wedding planner: $7,345

Not included are my dress, shoes, jewelry, groom’s tux, bridal party gifts and like the above poster…misc items under 1K

Congratulations!

My wedding is 10 days away from today. Since it is kind of a destination wedding, I will be having only 103 guests out of the 170 invited. These are the final numbers:

Venue: $9,800 (Historic museum, outdoors, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception for a total of 6 hours)

Tent: $1,600 ( Clear tent to protect the entire reception area from bipolar Florida weather, including lights)

Food and Beverage: $10,500 ( open bar with complimentary fresh mojito bar, 4 options hor dourves for 1 hour unlimited passed around, reception is buffet style meats are chicken and filet mignon) This includes service charge.

Music: $4,800 ( Violin for cermeony, piano for cocktail hour, DJ and musicians for reception and special hora loca show, and all special lighting for the entire event and decoration)

Decoration: $5,100 (  rentals, flowers, dessert table decoration)

Officiant : $600 ( catholic father)

Desserts : $1,200 ( 2 dessert shots and 1 key lime pie per guest, plus chips, chocolates and almonds)

Cake : $600

Photography/Videography: $3,898 ( Cinematic feel video, 8 hours of event coverage)

Dress and Shes : $2,800

Hair and Make up : $1,300 ( for me and my entire family- bridal party included, total of 12 women)

Day – of – Coordinator: $600 ( the best investment during the planning)

Favors: $400 ( including guests favors at exit and favors to party on “la hora loca”)

Spaciality food : $400

Extra alcohol : $500 ( certain alcohol such as Jameson or Buchannan is not included in the open bar)

Sibblings attire for bridal party : $700

Hotel and Flight tickets for family : $1,900

Toast champagne glasses and cake cutting set: $160 ( I wanted the Vera Wang gold set, I love it)

Other expenses such as rings, honeymoon, rehearsal dinner, lunch the day after the wedding , etc are not included in my budget and wedding expenses. We got the wedding bands inmediatly when we got engaged, I bought them in my country for better quality and price. Honeymoon was given to us by family and it is a Cruise on the Caribbean for 6 nights if you need prices, it costs $1,200 for both.

This thread makes me want to cry because it reminds me that we are spending all of the money in our big budget. LOL

Anyways, right now it looks like it’ll be coming at or just under $50k.

Ceremony Venue: $1000 (Church on our undergrad campus)

Music: $1900 (cantor, organist, DJ for cocktail hour and reception, DJ came with free photobooth for 3 hrs)

Flowers: $2000 (Church is super ornate so no flowers, low centerpieces)

Transportation: $2400 (Coach bus all day for shuttling guests, vintage Rolls Royce for us)

DOC: $950 + transportation costs

All-Inclusive Venue, 100-120 guests: $18000-$21500

Photographer: $4000 (9 hours, 1 photog 1 assistant)

Videographer: $4000 (9 hours, 2 videographers, trailer, 60 minute edited video with chapters)

Hair and Make-Up: $1200 (airbrush/hair for me, make-up and hair for both moms, hair for 6 BMs)

Reception Decor: $500 (toasting flutes, cake cutter, table numbers, fancy tablecloth for sweetheart, etc.)

Dress + Accessories: $1000 (Dad paid for $800 dress, I paid for $40 veil, $40 shoes, still have to buy jewelry/pashmina)

Rehearsal Dinner: $2500 (Dad is paying for this)

Hotel Rooms (2 night before to have for getting ready, 1 night of): $600

Honeymoon: $6500 (11 day mediterranean cruise)

Rings: $2300

Bridesmaid or Best Man Gifts, Groomsmen Gifts, Parent Gifts: $1000 (12 in bridal party all together)

Misc. Tips: $1000

130 guests… budget as bellow

 

VENUE – 5 hours with standard drink package – beer wine and soft drinks (we have to buy spirits and supply) $29,000

Dress- Vera Wang Ethel, $10,000 including veil and sash both from Vera Wang

Photographer – $5,500 which they will supply a USB – no album

Flowers – $3425 – my bouquet, 2 x bridesmaids bouquets, 7 buttonholes/corsages, 15 table arrangements, bridal table arrangements, gift table arragnement and arrangements on 3 outdoor tables and we get a free throw away bouquet.

entertainment – $3000 – dj for 5 hours, Sax player for 2 hours and bongos for 2 hours! yay excited for this..

 

makeup – 4 people – $975

hair – $800 4 people

MC – $550.00 

Cake – $550

bridesmaid gowns x 2 – $780.00

invitations $1200

Suits – hiring x 3 = $1500

thats all i have organised atm

 

i know my wedding band is $6200

cars – ?

videographer ?

hotel for wedding night -?

honeymoon i am currently organsing 10 days in overwater bungalow in the Maldives…
