pisces315:  That’s who we want! But we just spent $8k on flowers so I’m trying to cool my jets lol. I tried to update my list on the second page but can’t for some reason!

pisces315:  OH PS! I meant to ask you something because we have looked at similar venues and have similar tastes down to our e-rings: have you looked at hair and makeup yet?

I figured I was so ahead of the curve looking over a year out but apparently I’m the opposite of every bride: I booked everything other than attire and “my look” first and I’m doing stuff for myself last (whoops! lol)

If you haven’t, start calling! People are already booked for my wedding day over a year away. If you have, do you know who you’re using? I’m especially having a hard time with hair. I think we are going to book Cheekadee for makeup.

pisces315:  I’ve heard about Alexsandra Ambrozy, but not the other one. I’m using Nina at Cheekadee (she trained with Chanel cosmetics!), and I believe they travel to the Jersey shore, but for an extra fee. The makeup artist that I also super loved was Beke Beau, but she’s very pricey (and worth every penny, I’m sure!) I don’t think any of the girls in my Wedding Party would have wanted their makeup done at that price, though.

I was hoping to find different on location hair and makeup places, for the same reason that I looked for different photographers and videographers — I think they are two different arts. I’m hoping to figure out hair soon!

I am doing my own makeup! Ill get pro consult to get the right products, but I am skilled in that dept and every single time I get my makeup done professionally I look straight outta a Texas pageant/whorehouse.

MrsBuesleBee:  Oh I hear you!! Good on you for doing your own makeup — I think my hands will be too shaky that day! I rarely trust anyone with my makeup, which is why I called like 18 people and requested portfolios. I wanted someone who has mastered minimal looking makeup with maximum photographic potential! I’m still way stressed over hair, though. I want an updo but I don’t want to look like I’m going to prom!

crackktheskyy:  that is my nervousness as well. I think id like to do it in my hotel room vs on site so I can focus. I think I’ll be okay because I used to do my makeup before I had big theater/music performances in front of up to a thousand people- i was nervous then but makeup was a meditative time. But I don’t want to feel distracted and get snappy…

gosh maybe i should just find someone who can do a good natural look.

MrsBuesleBee:  Haha well you could at least always do a trial with a reputable MUA in your area to see if they do good work!

We spent $46,748 (not including the e-ring or honeymoon).  Here’s our breakdown:

Reception site, food, cake, & bar $12,176

Photography & videography $8,167

Wedding rings $6,572

Attire (inc. wedding dress, veil, alterations, groom’s tux, & other accessories) $3,982

Music $3,528

Flowers $3,043

Invitations & other printed materials $1,203

Attendants’ gifts $763

Transportation $0

Officiant $300

Miscellaneous (inc. hotels, hair & makeup, favors, wedding planner, etc.) $7,015

Definitely I wish I had explored the misc costs up front.  We completely forgot to include hotels and hair and makeup in our budget plans.  Also other big ticket misc items were pet boarding and dance lessons.

Congrats Bees!  I was just married a week ago today and was blessed with a significant budget for the wedding.  We were married on my parents’ farm — no way could we have rented a more beautiful and meaningful venue — so our budget was heavy on rentals.  I may be missing a few in the mix but off the top of my head:

Total guests – 203

Tent – $4k

Checkerboard dance floor – $2k

Chandelier/lighting rental – $1k

Floral – $5k

Band – $7k

Cocktail hour musicians – $1k

Church officiant & musician fee – $600

Various rentals (plates, napkins, tablecloths, silverware, chairs, tables, etc) – $1.5k

Raw bar for cocktail hour – market price

Passed apps/dinner buffet, incl pig roast – $45/head

All alcohol incl cocktail hour, bourbon ice luge, wine, champagne for toasts, open bar – consumption basis

Photog – $5k

Photobooth – $1k

Crowdsourced video app – $99 (friend runs the company so got a deal, also have been blogging for her this year – plus everyone we talked to who hired a videographer said they rarely watched the footage so didn’t feel the need to waste thousands)

Fire dancers/stilt walkers – $1k

Paper, incl save the dates, invites, church programs, seating cards & thank yous – DIY bc it’s fun for me to play with Photoshop/Illustrator, paid for professional printing/cutting, envelopes & postage – $700

Website – also DIY bc I know HTML/CSS & it was easy to knock out – $9.99 for domain, friend hosted for free

Dress – $9k (my “budget” was $4k but when mom cried, I said “ok here’s my money”)

Shoes – $1k (strappy Manolos)

Necklace – $40 (J.Crew, “buy it now” on eBay)

Grooms/men suits – $2.5k (awesome bespoke tailor in our neighborhood made us 10 suits @ $250/ea – 8 in wedding party plus one for each of our dads)

Bridesmaid dresses – $500ish (dress I wanted happened to be on sale for $59, score!!!)

Flower girl dresses – $450 (3 @ $150/ea)

Ring bearer suit rentals – $500 (5 @ $100/ea)

Rings – $7k (e.ring + our bands)

Engagement party – $2k (we won the use of an art gallery space in an auction so decided to host a “no gifts” party to celebrate with our Chicago friends – figure includes art gallery, photog, website, apps, cupcakes, DJ, fire dancers & blackjack dealer – all friendors, ridic deals)

Bachelor party – $1k, local, covered dinner at a steakhouse, his guys paid the rest

Bachelorette party – $2k, out of town, covered lodging for everyone + flights for myself & 2 others who wouldn’t have been able to travel there otherwise, my girls covered the rest

Rehearsal dinner – $25/head + open bar

Misc gifts for wedding party – $500

Gift for my parents who were so amazing to let us host the wedding on their land – $1k

I think that covers everything?

The only pix I have so far are of the FB/Instagram variety but here’s a couple of my faves:
