I have the same “short, chubby fingers” and little hands and mine is a .5 carat halo and looks HUGE. No joke. So I might get a bit smaller than 2 carats considering how large (to me) it looks on my hands. That is just my .02 of course, but you asked, so yes I do feel like that’s a little bit large – especially with the halo. I don’t have a pic, but I will at the end of the week (getting reset).

@chunkybunny: If they are short like mine, with the halo it looks much larger. People think it’s at least 1 carat when I’m wearing it. Have you thought about maybe 1.5?

My diamond is over two cts and has a halo and I don’t think it’s gaudy at all.  I get compliments every day actually.  I have small, slender hands and fingers (size 3.75) but I think it would look just as good if not better on a larger hand.  The picture is blury but you get the scale.

@chunkybunny: Have you tried them on in person? That’s really what I’d recommend.

And fwiw, I didn’t say it would look gaudy, only that with shorter fingers it does look quite large. Larger than I, personally, wanted. I think the difference is how short my fingers are. I can wear kid gloves.

@chunkybunny: Depending on the style, yes. At first glance the halo tends to add a lot to the stones look. Like I said, it adds about .5 carats or so to my ring in appearance. Take a look around the ring posts and compare some of the same size with halos and without. I think that will give you a good idea. There are a few specific threads for certain sizes if you want to look there and see some with and without halos.

Of course this is your ring and your choice, just offering my advice being a current halo-owner from a not-so-large city.

@chunkybunny:  I’m not sure where you’re planning to get your ring, but you can request a free ring sizer from Moissanite Co. I also got a little chart showing the actual carat sizes with the ring sizer request. Apparently the link I put didn’t work… but either way lol, if you go to their website and just click on one of their rings (it doesn’t really matter which one) on the right side of the page under all the ordering info, it’ll say “Request a sizer.” Just click on that and you can request one.

If you do get that maybe you can cut out the sizes you like and hold it by your finger and see if it looks good to you.

I personally think 2ct and 3ct look way too big but that’s all personal preference. I’ve never seen them in halo style but in this video you can see the 1ct, 1.5ct, 2ct, and 3ct http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlU8wHLozO4&feature=relmfu

Here’s a 3.6ct halo, not sure of what gemstone it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWFHR6TTqIQ&NR=1

I also think you should try them on if you can. Even if it’s not the gemstone you specifically want, you can get an idea of how it looks.

I have a size 8 finger with a 2.75 round sapphire in a pave halo setting.  It totally does not look that big on my finger bc my hands are so big.  I think it looks totally proportional.

I have short chubby hands and anything over .7 that I tried on looked HUGE and made them look even shorter. So I went with a .52
