I recently got engaged and I am so excited. Granted I have over a year to prepare I am looking for any advise on how to lose some extra pounds. I have been trying on dresses and realizing they make me look at least 10lbs heavier! I am not over weight, but I could stand to loose about 20+ pounds. I dont want to be starving myself in the last couple months either. So please help me out with some advise!

Realize he wants to marry YOU. With the 20 lbs 🙂
But if you are serious, start making small life changes. Drink lots of water, excercise.
This website has really helped me. It counts your calories and it’s FREE!

A lady at my work recently lost a lot of weight doing Medifast. It’s a meal replacement program. But since you have a year to go, I would suggest getting a personal trainer. I used one a couple of years ago and loved it. I lost 20-30 lbs in 6 months or so. I worked out 5 days a week though.

If the dresses you are trying on are making you look bigger than you feel you really are, you should maybe consider other silhouettes and definately try a corseted back. Depending on your ‘problem’ areas, different silhouettes can make all the difference. Corsets allow for extra cinching at the waist to make a waist look smaller and the hourglass shape more prominent.

mcnetn3 is right with the corset back thing. I didn’t end up going with one that had that but I noticed that all the dresses I tried on with it made me feel super skinny!

Thank you all for your response. My fiancee loves the way that I look (I think and hope!), my loosing weight will be for me. I think the one dress that I like is a corset top so thats good!
I am thinking about getting a personal trainer but they are so expensive! Any ideas on some inexpensive training? I’m in STL.
Thank you again for the advise! I can’t wait to go dress shopping again and try on the corset top!

I wanted to lose all this weight before we got hitched. But then my fiance said, ” I don’t know why you want too. I love you the way you are and I don’t like skinny girls.” He even said, ” I want you to look like yourself on our wedding day, not someone else.” That being said, I have decided to just do somethings healthier now that I have graduated college. I did lose 5 lbs. that is it. But if I could convince him it is perfectly normal for me not to want my super tight curly hair on our wedding day, i would be happy.
