laylabee:  you can play around on this site to compare different sizes, and adjust your ring size and band thickness!

When Fiance and I were picking my ring, they showed me several carat sizes to compare.  I felt like the 1 and 1.25 were a little small on me, and the 2 carat felt huge! Haha, now I wouldn’t mind a 2 carat after I’ve had my ring for a while.  We both liked the way 1.75 looked on me, so that’s what we went with! Mine is a 1.70 carat, to be precise!  I would say my ring is medium height-wise for its setting, I’ll share a side view.

lavender-reveries: Beautiful. I love knife edge bands.

laylabee:  OP, these are all fine sizes for stones. A setting that is higher does tend to make a diamond look a little larger in my experience. My finger size is similar to yours (6.5 – 7) and that’s why I went with a 2.2 ct RB. Smaller sized diamonds seemed to evaporate on me 🙁

I have a 2.01 carat but it’s pear. We worked with a custom jeweler and instead of him making my band, I fell in love with a wedding band he had on display. So he ended up putting my stone on the eternity band and because it was flat, my stone is up high! And it looks HUGE. I know 2 carats is a good size anyway but it’s like WHOA.

I dont mind though… 😉 I’m a 6 1/4.

I tried on a 1.5-2. We both agreed that bigger was better. But I think the 1.75 would had looked great and big because of the high setting!

But yes, I do think a 1.5 and a 2 is very different in any shape!

I’m a 7.5 and Ive been wearing a 1.5 carat round for 12.5 years. its a great size. I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t rock the hell out of a 2 carat though.

Edit: yes. I do think there’s a big difference between 1.5 and 2 carats.

I do have a fairly high setting. And I do think it makes my stone look a little bigger.
