So I’m in the first three weeks of my weight loss (four pounds so far, yay!), and I’m feelin’ pretty damn good.
Fiance and I are going to a Kentucky Derby party like we do every year, but this year I wanna look HOT! I’ve always wanted to try a pencil skirt (particularly a high-waisted one), so I bit the bullet and ordered one today (yes, without trying it on, but I will return it if it doesn’t fit).
SOOOO, I was just wondering if any Bees have (a) worn these skirts, (b) how they felt in it, and (c) if they had a picture they’d be willing to share in it.
Totally just curious.

I’m a total pear with the thickest thighs around. I’ve only worn them to dress as Amy Farah Fowler on halloween. They don’t flatter me. But there are plenty of full figured women with slim sexy legs. I say it all depends!

Im, ahem, curvy lol and I LOVE pencil skirts, they make bottys bootilicious!!! As much as I love pencil skirt I am not the biggest fan of high waisted ones, cos I have a little beer belly and they high waists tend to accentuate that on me, and Im a pretty cut and dry hourglass shape. The problem is, I always fall in love with how they look, but when I wear them, nada!I ust look silly lol
I dont have any pictures Im afraid, but I cant say how much I lurve pencil skirts!

I’m seconding that it depends on your legs. I have a lot of knee fat (uuugh) and it makes anything that sits above the knees look horrendous. But if your legs are pretty toned, I think you should be able to get away with it.

Thanks ladies! I was a runner, and–thankfully–my calves are one of the only things that survived the end of that era, so here’s to hoping! I also have a bit of a belly. Blah! Well, we’ll see how this goes….
@julies1949: I’ll check out those pics, definitely, just wanted some real input from real women. Thanks!!

By The Way, I figure if Kim Kardashian can wear one pregnant, I sure as Hell can wear one to a party!!

I ONLY wear pencil skirts as any other style makes my bottom half look heavier than it is. If I’m wearing a high-waisted one, I will probably wear spanx underneath so that everything looks flat and smooth.

I am plus size and have an hour-glass figure, and I personally prefer long, narrow, straight (but not tight) skirts, because I think they are the most flattering to a curvy shape. I think that full or gathered skirts often make curvy women look much heavier than they actually are.

I am not full figured, but I had to chime in because I <3 pencil skits! My sister is plus sized, and she wears pencil skirts all the time. Pencil skirts+ curves= awesome! Makes me think of Joan on Mad Men. You just have to find the right skirt. Don’t get discouraged if you try on one those stretchy legging-type material “pencil skirts” and it’s not flattering. A good pencil skirt will have some structure (and perhaps a zipper, lining, thicker fabric, etc) that will make it much easier to wear. Rock those pencil skirts, girls!!!

I dont know what you consider as “bigger” but I am an 8 and wont wear pencil skirts bc I dont feel they are flattering unless you have a flat stomach.

I <3 pencil skirts! Really they are the only type of skirt I wear (not including dresses). That being said I’m pretty proportionate just big all over.
Give it a shot, you won’t know until you try!

I wear pencil skirts all the time. I do have a little bit of a tummy bump but if you wear the right tops it doesnt matter.

I’m a size 18/20 right now (bleh) and I have worn them but don’t tend to like them because my thighs are like a sprinter’s and it’s too much going on while wearing them.

I’m a fairly average size, around a 10, but pencil skirts look like crap on me – it’s really not even about the weight so much as it is your actual shape. I have this weird indent around the spot where my underwear sits, like my body pulls in for a second between my waist and hips. Doesn’t matter if I gain or lose weight, it’s still there. I can’t wear high-waisted pants for the same reason, it just draws a ton of attention to that one spot.
