@jwdesiree:  I think it really depends on your build. I have a bit of an hourglass, but I am really short with very thick thighs and pencil skirts just accentuate all of that and make me look so stocky. I need to stick to A-line and flair skirts – however, I’ve met/seen a number of curvy or plus size gals who can rock a pencil like it’s nobody’s business. Generally, they’ve got slimmer legs with bigger hips/booty area.

@jwdesiree:  I love wearing them to work (in the right weather). I like the way they pull in my waistline and help to accentuate that I am slightly slimmer then I look in work pants, etc.

Plus its nice to feel like a girl every once in a while.

I feel like you can’t go wrong with a Victoria’s Secret skirt and silk top from express – it’s basically my whole spring/summer wardrobe.

@jwdesiree:  I am a curvy girl (size 16- 5’8) and I wear pencil skirts. They are kind of my signature!  height and shape are definately factors. I agree with the other Bee to avoid high waisted skirts and  thick belts i might add if you have a belly (like me- they make me look wider) I usually wear a nice blouse, or a nice scarf to add a more classy look and of course spanx or assets.

Good Luck! Work it!

Good luck!

I just bought one for engagement pictures.  Here’s hoping I don’t regret my choice.  😐

I am a curvy girl who loves them.  Pencil skirts are suppose to come below the knee so if you have any problems with knee fat it doesnt show. I wear pencil skirts and dresses most to time. Call me old fashion because I like to wear them all day everyday because I like how I look and feel when I do.

So for all the curvy girls pencils skirts are wonderful and please dont shy away from them because once you see yourself in them you will wonder why you waited so long.

I’m a size 14 (Australian) and I find that lined pencil skirts are the most flattering on me. My biggest problem is that they ride up easily because I have a fairly large hip/waist ratio so they are often either too tight on the hips or loose around the waist. Here’s a pic I’d taken to get advice on an outfit for a job interview:

I’m a size UK16/18, and even though my belly’s quite unsightly, lol, I’ve worn pencil skirts. I don’t have a pic, but I wear them with peplum tops, and that hides the belly whilst accentuating the curves around the hips and waist 🙂

Something like this (not me)

I wear them all the time, I just buy them so they fit very comfortably and aren’t too tight around the middle. I carry my weight in my belly, so I don’t usually wear high waisted ones over shirts but they look cute under things.

I have long legs, so that might help.

@jwdesiree:  Cute!  Are you wearing it high waisted?  Looks a little low?
