Hi Bee 🙂 I would go for the bigger solitaire because you can add more bling later if you feel like it. In my opinion they also look more classic

Large solitaire. You can always upgrade the setting later for a special anniversary, but you’ll never regret a big beautiful stone

Personally I’d invest in a larger stone now, and then change out the setting later or get a blingy wedding band instead.

I would get the bigger solitaire now and add wraps, jackets/enhancers, or new setting later for more bling!

I don’t know if you’d ever really regret going the solitaire route. It’s so classic, and it will never go out of style. But if you get bored of it later, you can change the setting, add a halo, side stones, a diamond band, etc. Options are endless.

I vote for a larger solitaire with a plain shank. That way you’ll have so many possibilities for a blingy band or stack!

Is price no object?  Because a 2-3 carat quality stone will cost a lot more than a smaller stone on a blingy setting.

I’ll always vote solitaire over bling setting, even if the stone isn’t bigger. I strongly dislike blingy settings.

    izzabella :  good point!

OP, have you considered a classic three stone of some sort (either a classic trilogy with three rounds or pear or baguette sidestones etc) if you like bling but maybe don’t want a plain solitaire or can’t get one stone as large as you would like?

allpinkeverything :  I picked the larger solitaire just from the simple fact that you said you didn’t want your ring going out of style, solitaires are forever classic! If you want more bling you could add a ring wrap to it or change the setting down the road! Would love to see the outcome!

allpinkeverything :  I also vote for the larger solitaire. Since you ask, personally, I feel less is more in terms of settings. I prefer a classic and timeless look, and for the focus to be on the center stone.

But if you do want something different it’s going to be much less expensive and easier to reset later when you will likely have other financial priorities than it would be to upgrade the center stone. And there’s no guarantee you’ll have the same “good deal” available either.
