I take that back, in the FAQ on that website it says that your child would be a US Citizen if born abroad to an american mother and you lived in the us for atleast 5 years 2 of which being over the age of 14. If you meet the requirements then your good! Best of luck in SA!

Wow! What an amazing opportunity! I think you were very wise to put a time on it. In 4 years, assuming everything goes according to your plan, your children will be very young. If you do feel that you need to move back to the US it won’t be such a huge deal for them as it would if they were teenagers.

@nonapkns:  Oh god, I would totally do it- at least for the 4 year time you’ve given your husband. That’s a wonderful opportunity; I say go for it!

@Shina:  +1

Make the move! I think it’s a wonderful opportunity and that you should at least try it out.

WHAT and you’re considering NOT moving there?! (Sorry I love elephants)

Seriously, though, PPs are right. You can try SA out for a year or so, and move to the US if you don’t like it. If you move within the first few years of your first child’s life, he/she shouldn’t have any moving trauma so you won’t have to worry about that much.
