I take that back, in the FAQ on that website it says that your child would be a US Citizen if born abroad to an american mother and you lived in the us for atleast 5 years 2 of which being over the age of 14. If you meet the requirements then your good! Best of luck in SA!

Wow! What an amazing opportunity! I think you were very wise to put a time on it. In 4 years, assuming everything goes according to your plan, your children will be very young. If you do feel that you need to move back to the US it won’t be such a huge deal for them as it would if they were teenagers.

@nonapkns: Oh god, I would totally do it- at least for the 4 year time you’ve given your husband. That’s a wonderful opportunity; I say go for it!

Make the move! I think it’s a wonderful opportunity and that you should at least try it out.

WHAT and you’re considering NOT moving there?! (Sorry I love elephants)
Seriously, though, PPs are right. You can try SA out for a year or so, and move to the US if you don’t like it. If you move within the first few years of your first child’s life, he/she shouldn’t have any moving trauma so you won’t have to worry about that much.

thank you to everyone who said to try it out. I guess dice I have been on the MeV for a decade plus….. So I want to feel like wherever I move will be “it”. But I guess that is putting more pressure on myself.
I just can’t focus on anything today. And I started picking on my hubby about our house not being “American” enough. Aka pretty. Stupid thing to worry about. I think I am just still forsaking out.
@arathella: you can ride th Elephants or spend the night overlooking where they sleep…. It is awesome.
@Kate0558: we have done the research and I can have the kids there. My friends did it that way and the complained because their little one couldn’t get a visa to travel for 14 months.
@happyheidi1984: technically I have made up my mind. And now I should be all excited but I am just kinda lethargic. Which is why I thought maybe you Bees might help 🙂
