Probably the photographer. The catering costs more but Future Mother-In-Law is paying for that so our biggest splurge is the photographer.

Our venue!  We’re having a pretty small wedding, but our budget feels like it’s for a larger wedding because our venue / food budget works out to $220 per person (including taxes and gratuities).  Totally our biggest expense AND the biggest splurge.  Could we have done it for less? Sure.  But this place was just perfect!

Our venue by far! It includes food and bev of course, and I think its stunning, but it was by far the BIGGEST part of our budget!

The (all-inclusive) reception was easily our biggest expense but since it was in budget I don’t really consider it a splurge. Our biggest “money is no object” purchase was his suit. We had intended to do J Crew or maybe splurge on an off the rack at Brooks Brothers. He couldn’t find the perfect suit in the right material so we ended up with not one, but two, custom cut Brooks Brothers suits (they were having a deal, and we are suckers).  It felt a little extravagant, but seeing him on our wedding day… worth every penny.

Technically I would say the reception food and beverage, but it wasn’t really cause it came in under what I budgeted.

I would say probably the photographer and our upgrades like specialty linens and chiavari chairs. I had to have the chiavars!!!

the most expensive thing?  all inclusive reception/open bar.  It was well worth it.  i don’t know if I would call anything in my wedding a splurge, since I pretty much stayed within my budget and within what is generally considered reasonable.

The venue and food took the biggest chunk of the budget, but that was planned and not a surprise. Videography came in as a second with our photography rounding out #3. All in all good money spent. I don’t think I would have done it any other way 🙂

The venue. But that also includes the florist, food, drink, cake, ceremony, limo, and a few optional packages with photographers, etc.

The reception. They say 50% percent of your budget should be for food and drinks. Mine was more like 75%
